Points Matching- How to Calculate:

Picks 1-18: Points value of pick less 10% discount
Picks 19-36: Points value of pick less 84 points discount
Picks 37+ : Next available pick

From the points required deduct the value of the next available pick and repeat until the total of the picks used exceeds the value required. The value of the surplus is then used to add back the pick closest to that value

For example a bid at pick 2 for Uwland:
• Pick 2 = 2481 points less 10% means 2233 points are needed to match
• Gold Coast have picks 15 (973), 18 (836), 24 (621) totalling 2430 points
• There is a surplus of 197 points which is equivalent to pick 43 (184 points)
• So to match, Gold Coast lose picks 15,18,24 and gain pick 43

**** it - I like him way more than NHH and Nairn looks good, as does BOB but I just really like the look of this kid.
Threadgold is another but not a huge need.

Either way, I figure I win. I'll either **** Freo over or pick a gem. (Talent is there...Hopefully the body can hold out)

* I'm not a sheep...I'll go with my gut.
My next pick can be matched without loss and I CBF trying to trade to nab him.

This one is one ceiling and gut feel.

Fremantle pick 21 - Bid on Koby Evans .

Off chops mate, Flagmantle aren’t bidding on Evans at that pick 😂

I genuinely really rate the kid.
Wrapped I got him.

This is a point of the draft where I think you have to go for ceiling. He's got a lot of things to like about his game.

Like the look of him way more than NHH. Nairn feels safer but I think Evans could be special....BOB was close.

I'm happy to go with my gut on this

Write up to come shortly

I look forward to your detailed analysis of his one WAFL colts game this year….He looks like he has some talent and hopefully when the Eagles do Rookie him he shows something but he’s not going pick 21.

God forbid the fella has a little bit of fun. Rate him as the best of our tied talent for my very non-valuable 2c. Also, he played 4 games this year

I only ever said I'm going off videos...It's more my reasoning as to why, at this point in the draft.

He would have been matched at my next pick, I don't want to trade futures.

The guys at this point in the draft all have some flaws.

It's a risk but I'm going to back myself and him in.

Hawthorn slept on this....

There seems to be a lot of mock draft and talk that this kid is going to be a bolter on draft night.

Good size 188, sub 6.20 2km

Watches some vision and his left foot is exquisite. See the play with good decision making.

A medium forward capable of playing above his height with terrific running capacity, overhead marking, and clinical finishing.

He is a goal kicking high half forward with a good size that could lead to a move into the midfield.

Hawthorn select

Cameron Nairn

North Melbourne are putting pick 25 on the table for the best return via trade. A first rounder for Jevan Phillipou or Noah Hibbens-Hargreaves is where I'll be looking, but also happy to keep the picks. I'll put a time limit of 1pm on this.

North Melbourne hoping that other clubs are as incompetent as......... North Melbourne.

24. NTH - Blake Thredgold, 194cm KPD, Sturt & SA

One of, if not the, most simple picks in the draft, North need a key back and who better than Blake in this class. A stout lockdown tall for most of the year, having put in a BOG performance vs Mitch Marsh in their grand final, Thredgold tested very well at the combine, top 8 in 3 categories being 20m sprint and both vertical leaps, to add to his defensive tenacity and aerial impact. As the highest rated KPD in the open pool, this is pretty much a lay-up.

STRENGTHS:

  • Aerial ability
  • Athleticism
  • Lockdown defence
  • One-on-ones
  • Reading the play
  • Versatility

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Decision making
  • Production

If omgfridge wants to match

Bid at pick 25 requires 504 points to match

Picks 31 and 49 total 515 points - an excess of 11 points - equivalent to pick 55

I change my mind on the trade table shout for now.

North Melbourne bid on Jai Murray at pick 25 Keys omgfridge
Bit earlier than I thought but match. Don't have time at the moment to do a write up but want to keep things going.

You're back up
