Points Matching- How to Calculate:

Picks 1-18: Points value of pick less 10% discount
Picks 19-36: Points value of pick less 84 points discount
Picks 37+ : Next available pick

From the points required deduct the value of the next available pick and repeat until the total of the picks used exceeds the value required. The value of the surplus is then used to add back the pick closest to that value

For example a bid at pick 2 for Uwland:
• Pick 2 = 2481 points less 10% means 2233 points are needed to match
• Gold Coast have picks 15 (973), 18 (836), 24 (621) totalling 2430 points
• There is a surplus of 197 points which is equivalent to pick 43 (184 points)
• So to match, Gold Coast lose picks 15,18,24 and gain pick 43

Interesting how this works out. Matching now after taking Phillipou could mean missing any other NGA or Father Son if bids come.

34 coming into 28 and getting Phillipou is an example of why we shouldn’t match a bid for Williams before pick 34. Easily twice the player and players of his calibre are popping up on rankings, phantoms,
mock drafts etc
Yeah i was tossing up between the Poo and NHH for that pick, just went Poo because he never gets mentioned much but both better prospects than our academy kids at those picks.

If we landed this kid with pick 28 it would be the steal of the draft IMO.

Id be ok with using 13.....16 on him.

The kid can play and is an impact player who can kick goals. Duel sided, good pace and skills. Ultra competitive.
He lacks defensive effort at times ( plenty of kids do) and is a little unpolished at times in his game/decision making but there’s some talent there. I would probably go NHH before him but just went him because it’s a mock draft, why not.

NHH has had a couple of games this year that are in the top performances of the year, he’s just a little inconsistent.

I’m going to match on the Tyler Williams bid. I think we need a forward or two that have his pace and agility, there are others still available that i think are better footballers at this stage of there career but Williams has some upside. Question i would ask and the Eagles should know this is how much does he want it and can he be professional enough to get the most out of himself.

GWS select Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves, a player I once tipped could go to Richmond at pick #4 so I’m stoked to nab him here. One of the highest ceilings in the draft with some incredible performances throughout the year counterbalanced by inconsistency. Can’t go past him here.

Let’s move on

Melbourne having taken Grlj and Pickett earlier now put in a bid for Adam Sweid to give them some help on the inside

Essendon have no picks to match a bid and no open list spots either so Sweid is a Dee

TheBudgies

Brisbane are now on the clock

Brisbane have a luxury of having good players across the board. I'll take Matt LeRay he's versatile and can play in almost any line but best on a wing.

SNAPSHOT: “A tall midfielder capable of playing in each third of the ground with his work rate and dual-footed kicking.” – Michael Alvaro

Most can only dream of being as good in one sport as Matthew LeRay is at two codes. The talented dual-sportsman captained South Australia’s Under 19 cricket side at the end of last year, but gave away that career path to pursue his Aussie rules dreams. LeRay’s induction into the National Academy for 2025 provided somewhat of a reality check for what would be required to make it all the way. Cue his first full footballing preseason.

That came on the back of a successful bottom-age campaign in 2024. LeRay made 11 SANFL Under 18 appearances and helped Central District surge into the Grand Final. He was part of the state Under 18 squad and showed his wares on AFL Grand Final day in the National Futures showcase game. Heading into 2025, he spent time training with the Adelaide Crows, the club he supports, and primed himself for a big year ahead.

What unfolded was essentially LeRay delivering on the promise he had shown. He represented his country in two matches against VFL opposition, captained Central District’s Under 18s, and also made a Reserves debut late in the season. In state colours, he ran out a full national carnival and earned All-Australian honours – named on a wing opposite to partner-in-crime Harley Barker as SA clinched the title.

LeRay was duly invited to the National Draft Combine in Melbourne where he again got to show his wares against the best of the best. A tally and wiry type at 188cm, he looks towards Hawthorn star Will Day for inspiration, while the likes of Patrick Cripps and Marcus Bontempelli provide a model for how he aspires to lead. The latter aspect is something he prides himself on, in every sport he plays.

Geelong select Jack Dalton. Carbine Chaos

A heavy accumulator that runs all day with a sub 6 minute 2km time trial after missing most of the season with fractured wrists. Mixture of inside and outside game who would probably start in a wing and hopefully transition into the midfield, fitting in well in future rotations with Smith, Holmes and Atkins. Will always run and spread and is especially adept in link up transition with give and go.

His kicking needs work but in his role he’d be looking to get the ball into the hands of Holmes and Smith to transition the ball forward. His lack of height hopefully doesn’t hinder his AFL prospects.

Apologies. This was probably a better move than anything I would have come up with, so well done.

When you know, you know.!

I had two or three names in mind for Richmond’s original pick in the 30s that was traded to Brisbane, they’re still on the board so I’ll be interested to see where they end up going.

Limited time due to work, but after taking a small and a tall, the Blues need to nab some midfield talent to round out their haul.

They'll take classy SA mid BLAKE OUDSHOORN-BENNIER.

There goes one of them.

North Melbourne will place a bid on Kye Fincher of the Saints squashface

No points required to match now as we’ve gone past pick 36

St Kilda can match with pick 43 which is their next available pick
