I cant wait for this game!! We will probably lose but id like to see no more then a 30 point loss if we do. Its extremely hard to win games over there in the west but the match ups look surprisingly good.

Should be a good game. I think we will have the tactics like we did against Port Adelaide. Keep the game close and try and get over the line right at the end.

Good Luck guys!

I bloody hope not. I might as well take my pyjama's and pillow down to Subi if Richmond decide to play like that.

With such an attacking forward line with Richo firing, the Tigers would be absolutely mind numbingly stupid to play like they did against Port Adelaide. If the Tigers are gonna win (which I think they are a chance) they will have to play attacking footy out of the midfield, not stop start stuff from a crowded backline, waiting for players to run forward.

just as a pointer to how excited I should get...when did wce last lose a game at home ?

We lost twice late last year, to Port Adelaide, and the ever quirky Melbourne. Prior to that, not since 2001

A lot depends on how Richmond approach the game. The match-ups are pretty tough all over the ground - meaning Richmond seem to have the players to trouble us front and back. We will play our usual brand of attacking football and hope that our midfield dominance will blow them away, which it may or may not.

If Richmond have faith in themselves and come over and give us a real go, they could win. If they put in a game like Port Adelaide away or go for the traditional Richmond mentally soft approach like most of last year, I think we'll hammer them.

I will tip that we will play out the 4 quarters.

I hope Chick will be alright to play, personally I would put him on Campbell as he always leaves his best for us. IIRC he kicked 4 goals and had 35 odd possessions against us last year....I have confidence in Chick to be able to shut him down, should he play.

Jako and Wilson must come into the side. Jakovich could be an option on Richo if Carroll/Glass get r*ped. Gardiner must destroy Stafford and our midfield must get on top, Kerr and Punda with a game behind them can only help us.

Should be a great game....

Really looking forward to this game, Richmond are nearly at full strength and they always play well against us. Richardson and Campbell are the major concerns IMO, they love playing well against us

Another potential problem for Saturday night are Richmond's small forwards, our achilles heel. Rodan and Krakouer could easily have a few goals between them if we're not careful.

Yeah, this year's Eagles are a side that just doesn't know when it's beaten.

I'm still getting bad dreams about that Richmond game over east last year, when Campbell played a blinder against us.

Stafford isn't the ruckman that Gardiner is, but he has a real bastard streak. I think we'll see more double-teaming like what Collingwood were doing last week at stoppages, although it has to be said that the Pies were getting away with some pretty blatant wrestling last week.

And Richardson ... I can remember watching a game at Subi (think it was 2001, we lost) when a guy in front of me gave Richo an extended mouthful about being a useless prettyboy, just before he kicked two goals in quick succession. Ta mate. As much as I can't stand the petulant t*at, Richo's a danger as well.

PS: on the topic of past Richmond clashes, I think it was a night game against Richmond at the MCG that went a long way towards ending Kemp's career - he was BOG for us and we were right in the mix, until he caught a vicious sh*tmixer and was stretchered off. That was the end of us for the night.

granted we had a pretty negative mindset going in against port however there is proof [the final last yr vs the pies] that if you play a tight frustrating game against port you have a better chance of beating them.and we almost did.also the fact that we had to more or less rely on our small crumbing type players to score with only staff and hall as our talls.
we also showed against the bombers and dees that we can play positive football.
this saturday night if we play a free flowing type game we will be playing into the eagles hands.your win against the pies last week more or less would have confirmed our plan of attack this week.
either way im looking fwd to next week and may the best side win.
goodluck for the rest of the season i dont mind the eagles out of the interstate clubs.

cheers!

Scotty Turner was it?

mmmmmmm, going to be a good game.

matchups mean less for these two sides than any others in the comp, i reckon. both sides have relied on good systems for moving the ball and scoring, have played out every game, had a good spread of contributors, stood up when challenged, improvised (sampi soccer goal anyone?) and shown alot of character. they were really good against melb last week in the final quarter.

but i think that big ruckman and the big open spaces of subi will suit our midfielders more, interested to see how big cox goes this week, need him to lift if gardy is going to make it thru the season. haynes hasnt been bad but id rather see mcdougal come in, is our gaspar back this week? we would be greatly helped by a big FF for this one, i reckon. or mebbe lynch.

interesting to see whether jako plays forward on gaspar. be a good matchup, and will it curb his rebounding abilities, methinks, a defensive CHF?

i think carrol will get the job on richo, but will need wirra dropping back into the spaces like last week to really keep the thumb on him. im not sure macintosh will even play if that is the case.

OK, just from a Tiger perspective. And no, I haven't read everyone's replies. So I don't even know who has posted. I'm just too damn lazy.

I'll be there, can't wait. 1 out of 2 live Richmond games I get to see this year. Anyway ...

Of the few Richmond vs West Coast NIGHT games I have been to, I find it has a sensational atmosphere, and the footy is great to watch. Both team's supporters are very passionate and whatever it is about night time, really gets us all going.

Richmond are coming off a close game. Too close for my liking. And in being totally honest, our wins this year have not been over the best of competition (although that isn't up to us, it's the draw). The biggest test for us so far, and most likely, the year. I'm sure we'll find something though, surely with the skill and momentum we have at the moment can't fail us completely.

If everyone man's up and it's a serious one on one game, it'll be a hard fought battle. The winning team will have the strongest, and smartest players out there on the night. The battle of the ruck will be interesting though. Gardiner, IMO the best player out there at the moment, will come up against Stafford (and the others that'll take a few ... Vardy, Richo...). Both skillful players in the air, it'll be great to watch to see who gets on top of who.

I'd probably be tipping West Coast if I weren't so bias. So Richmond it is ;). Bring it on.
