Guys i think i speak for most when i say that it's great to see so much passion for a local club, and YES, ROCK did do a stella job with the Colts in his time. But to be a player in the league and to beat the colts this season, i would want them to be united and as strong as ever. Not getting on hear and airing your frustrations and views of your club. Give each other a call, sit down and have a beer, or if you don't know who each other is then private message each other. Because from where i sit it looks like the huge respect your club has built in the comp over the past decade is actually being Disrespected by your own. Not healthy. Who knows, Jack may coach and be successful. Rock may return in 5 years to coach again with a bag of edfl recruits. The important thing is to all push your club the same way so that you remain a force and in doing so create a healthy strong league.

no players have posted a thing in my opinion.
Hence why the club will be strong again this year.
Think everyone should forget what has happened and no doubt I will return to the club weather it will be to coach juniors or be on the commitee or even president. Let's all just focus on the footy ahead.
I certainly have no bitter feelings, I just want the club to be strong and stable.

Sorry, but some things just need to be said seeing you have suggested SOME PEOPLE are lying. As i have mates who play at the Colts and still throw my money over the bar every saturday and live not more than a drop punt from Murphys this hurts to say as my association with the club has been a lifetime. Facts are -
You are definately not the same Micka Morris who was a teamate of my old mans at the Colts, because Micka is a good BLOKE.
J.Love is not accredited by the AFL and wont be.
Not everyone at the Colts knows what is going on as there are players there that dont even know of the Love's suspension and that he will not be allowed to coach.
Some players that do know of the circumstances are pissed off that Clarke was replaced with a bloke not allowed to coach.A couple of these players still weighing up their options.
Appointment of Love and sacking of Clarke come from a push by individuals who support the club but were not even commitee people.
No President to lead a commitee to ratify Loves appointment.
Club appointed a bloke as an assistant to Love who was Clarkes right hand man last year and also applied for the Coaching job as co Coach for 2010.Conflict of loyalties as his friendship with Clarke was the only reason he set foot back in the Colts. Will not see the season out.
Former captain of the club takes a coaching job at another club after being a magnificent servant to the club and cant get paid for last season.
Club is an embarassment with what they have done and the season has'nt even started.
Clarke done an enormous job during his coaching career to have the success the club did considering the unprofessionalisim that has littered the club for some time. Not to mention the disloyalty by some who wanted his head during the season last year and finally got their way.
These are all facts and i could add plenty more to the embarassing fiasco that is Port Colts Football Club at the moment. When you live in Port all your life and walk down Bay St everyday the truth always comes out so it is highly hypocritical for you to again get on here and suggest people are telling lies, when the previous poster was stating fact and expressing his opinion.

Been away for a while and cant believe this issue is not resolved by the WRFL or AFLVIC

Very courageous post cindarella man you obviously care about the club , and your pretty much on the mark, its a sad day when a great club such PMC has its fabric destroyed by personal agendas & ego

Ist thing - more than one player is still owed money( which is irrelevant in this instance) and secondly the fact that Jack Love is suspended from football until end of 2012(plenty of articles on it) after instigating one of the most disgusting acts of violence seen on a football field, I believe from sources that he will never be allowed to officiate in football again, the fact he is suspended makes him unable to even register to coach, im not sure why the colts have sacked a club legend and rejected another club legend as coaches and appointed a guy who will never coach.

Maybe in hindsight, the people who have orchestrated these moves and tried to hide jack loves past from players may have to back pedal and get real? to good a club to be destroyed.

I cant understand why a club who have played in 6 gfs in a row, would appoint a make believe coach and lose 2 club legends in the process.
There seems to be a lack of leadership, does the club have a president?

How could any player consider playing for a club thats made these decisions? Its a farce and needs to be fixed quickly or now the cats out of the bag is it to late?

I see Rock 07 and brett jacobs have moved on,both them and the great colts of the past must be scratching there heads in disbelief they must be gutted watching 15 years of there hardwork slowly crumbling.

This subject needs to be put to bed in my opinion. I don't usually share my personal things on big footy but i will tell my story so everyone can move forward and know what happened and hopefully all the theories and 3rd & 4th hand stories that are rumoured to have happened can be disregarded.

I don't know anything about the Jack Love appointment or the Jason Clarke non-appointment so don't ask me to comment on either issue.

In terms of playing career at Port Colts I have never had such a great time in all my life and have had the privelage of meeting some fantastic people who i'm lucky to call friends and these friendships are as strong as ever and will continue to be.

At the end of 09 I had no intention of coaching or leaving the club I had barely gotten over the year when i was approached and asked if i would be interested in a coaching role at Sunshine. I agreed to meet and talk about the role which was being offered which was the senior coaching position. When i left this meeting i met with a Port Colts identity to inform them that i was weighing up my options to let the club know what i was doing as I have never been the type of person who would operate behind the clubs back and wanted to be honest with them.

The club person had no ill-feeling against me whatsoever for considering a move into coaching and suggested i could apply for the Colts job if i wanted to coach but the remuneration would be significantly less if I was successful in applying for the job. It was merely a suggestion and was never an official offer.

I was informed by Sunshine if i was interested in the senior coaching job i would have to go through an interview process and I informed them that i was still unsure and needed more to time to think about it but we agreed to do the interview anyway so that if i did decide i was interested that was one box already ticked and also both parties or one of us may have decided it wasn't a good fit and we could walk away there and then.

I found the interview to be quite extensive and walked away knowing I wanted to coach. Whether it was Port Colts, Sunshine or somewhere else but the interview made me want to have a crack at it as I think i can do the job.

Over the next few days I had a fair bit to think about and I spoke to several senior players and Clarkey and although dissappointed if I left all the guys I talked said they would have no hard feelings and would wish me luck except against the Colts. As is the case with mates there is always a bit of banter and that sort of thing is still going on and will continue to because i'm still in contact with my very good mates. A senior player then rang me and asked would i stay and coach Port no-ones wants me to leave which made me take an extra day to make a decision. I was then contacted by a club person who informed me that they could not guarantee what i wanted if I stayed and asked what could they do to keep me but i had made up my mind that I wanted to have a go at coaching. I was wished all the best then I accepted the Sunshine job.

My dealings with Port Colts with the coaching position was all unofficial. The committee was unaware of these discussions as they were merely just phone conversations and hypotheticals. I did offer to coach the club in these discussions but it was all very unofficial and just a chat between mates. I was never officially made an offer to coach the club and I never officially applied for the job.

In terms of moving into coaching I personally think it would have harder for me at Colts because i'd been there so long and it would have been a difficult transition because i was so close with the playing group - just my opinion.

The decision to leave was never solely based on money and was a very difficult decision to make but in the end i decided I wanted to coach and the Colts still had a process to go through which i was no certainty to get the green light from so I made my decision. Over my many years at the Colts I had been approached many times to leave and never did nor did I use this to get more money from the club. If there are people out there who think I left simply left for a better offer then those people don't know me very well. I wouldn't do a very good job if I was only there more money and nothing more.

In terms of me not being paid yet it isn't like I haven't been paid at all it's only the last few rounds that i'm owed for and although i'm a little disappointed it has nothing to with me leaving the club - it is a seperate issue altogether. I had a recent chat with club officials over this matter recently and was informed that the club decided to pay the players who were still on the list first as they wanted to retain them for 2010 - totally understandable. This issue should have been finished prior to xmas but due to holidays and people being away it has dragged on a bit longer but I can guarantee 100% that I will be paid in full in the coming weeks as has been the case every year I played at the club. I still have strong links to the club and love the place dearly and wish them all the best and certainly feel like I can walk through the doors anytime and feel welcome. I have no ill-feeling towards this great club and i'm sure the club has none against me. For all those who bag and put down the club you couldn't be more wrong. It is a fantastic club full of great people who work very hard and do a tremendous job without the same resources that other clubs possess.

I know I have gone on for a while but know you all know the story and we can all move forward as the season isn't too far away now. For the record i'm enjoying my time at Sunshine and have slotted in well and am confident in a good year and can't wait for it to get under way. Good luck to all teams and players in 2010.

Filo-answer to hypothetical. First of all, of course my opinions are ones of someone outside of COLTS inner sanctum, but they are still from someone who has been involved at all levels of a footy club. Not being involved with the Colts is not a valid reason to simply disregard my view on the matter.
When you are deciding whether to replace a coach who has taken you to the last 3 GFs, although they were unsuccessful attempts, you want to make sure that its a GUARANTEED better swap. Especially when its obvious(just read any of his posts) that the bloke who was sacked bleeds for the club. Even post sacking his loyalty has been admirable and has publicly voiced his ongoing support for the club. But after 3 losses, I cant blame Colts for looking at their options. Maybe it was time for a change.
And im not saying J Love would be a bad coach, im just asking whether hes going to be allowed to. Perhaps a phone call to Football Vic would clear all this up. But my mail is he is suspended and to me that is not a GUARANTEED better option. A previous poster said some players are not aware of this situation and if thats the case instability awaits. I cant see how being a young player being coached by someone who cant enter the playing field and wondering why he cant is going to be good for player development. So if my mail is incorrect (feel free to correct me Micka) then let the BIGFOOTY community and WRFL supporters know. Then we can make a more informed choice on whether it was the right call.

Wasn't dismissing yours or anyone else's opinion on the matter. I just don't think anyone outside of the club is owed any explanation. For what it's worth, a fair answer to the hypothetical. Seems a damned if you do and damned if you don't type situation.

COUGAR
Cracking post mate, all the best. Obviously the Cougar cub aint keeping you busy enough haha!

Applause. Could all the other players nominated in the forwardline please line up to shine Buttsas boots? Def no sarcasm here, a class above the rest of a very good bunch, highlights dvd please!!

Team was based on 2000-2009 - Butsa played about 10 games in St Albans 2's during this era. (WAS A FREAK IN THE 90's and good bloke)

Rock Full Forward as he has kicked a lot more goals then any other, could have picked D.Carson, A.James, Keenan, Sutton but over the full period J.Clarke for consistency stands out!

thanks for that.

Lots of negative post about colts, so I thought I'd put a positive spin on things
Last nites sessions there were plenty of numbers, a few recruits and a few whispers of a young key fwd to return.
I have no doubt the boys are in for a great year and will be challenging for another premiership.

Drove past both Heights and Albion last night;

Heights - reasonable numbers (30-35) and must say players in general look fitter then last season.

Albion - Simliar numbers and watched about 5 minutes where all they done was sit ups during this time. (Interesting)

You have often stated Heights pay no players:D:D:D

In all seriousness it was early when I was there and guys were doing warm ups, I spoke to a person within your club a couple of weeks ago and he was confident of improvement. (Time will tell)

Another Note: Northern & Southern leagues have Clearances up & running for 2010 on there web sites. Please WRFL - get going on this???

doesnt matter who coaches the colts senoir players on the list have taken a bigger role this year and voicing their opinions and taking a little more control which is great. with the talent still left on the list and a few recruits colts will still be strong. to all people not involved at the club knocking the club, thats fine your opinion dont mean shit at the end of the day but to colts people bagging the club it is disrespectful to the people still trying to get the club somewhere, not as easy as people think, but it is disrespectful mostly to the players who have decided to stick with the club when they could walk away for double their wages.... get on board and help the club you say you so dearly love...

How have senior players taken a bigger role with voicing their opinions and taking more control ? Players play the game and Coaches coach it so it does matter who coaches.Unless you can explain what you mean your opening statement is dribble.Players are entitled to opinion but they should have no control over coaches or its structures.Agree the club still have a good list and will still be a force. As far as people bagging the club goes,it doesent mean you are disrespecting the club or the people who do all the work to run it when you dont agree on certain things,so you voice it.Its called opinion. For what its worth i think Jack would do a good job with that list too but not while he is not eligible end of story. That has not changed to this point and everybody but those that made the decision will admit that it wont.

Colts people must ask, how did he go first time around as he did coach there previously??? - From memory Colts were at there strongest (with more money) spent under Matty Larkins - Love did not coach any flags from memory.

Why are people still mentioning coach & Jack Love in the same sentence, its an embarassment for all local football. Seriously he will not be coaching the club, the quicker the colts appoint a "coach" the better for everyone involved!
The bloke who would be hurting the most would be rock07 , he gave that club service beyond the call and was sacked and replaced by a person who will not coach?
This is not a personal attack on the colts or jack love, but who in there right mind would even consider appointing a person who was rubbed out for 8 years for violence.
Will someone from the colts announce who the new coach will be!

Peanutfarm your club gladly let a bloke play full forward who did a lot of time for a few murder's while at the same time another one who did ten years for hitting umpires,so get off your ****ing high horse about people with a history of violence being involved at a football club.

Any chance you can start a PORT COLTS thread and talk about that crap there....

Any news of recruits?

or any clubs looking to make the improve in 2010?

So if Love doesn't coach and Rock has signed with APW. Would be very interesting times if Colts approached Tocka O'keefe.

Give them some credit. With the club happy enough to appoint Jack Love but it still being in doubt because of the AFL they wouldnt be silly enough not to have something else in place with only 8-9 weeks until the season. They would have something up their sleeve but Tocka no chance.

No need to speak for me, i'm definately not hurting. I take what has happened like a man, if you are around footy long enough you will get dissapointed along the way. The club has my full support and as long as the club has a good team on the paddock and a stabe commitee i have no need to hurt.

Why has aflvic not come out and said a yes or a no on the coaching saga ??, the same with the wrfl. No one can blame the colts heirachy for continuing along this path if they have not recieved a definate NO!!
I personally hope jack is allowed to coach other wise it could now have a negative effect on the club if he is removed from the position at this late stage. So hopefully it can be settled asap.

This colts thing is done and dusted until the league make a decision, right now it is out of the hands of the Adminstration of that club, so not much more to be said about it. However until the league has a CEO, not much will happen.

Whats going on with other clubs?? St Albans are very quiet, so is Hoppers, Glenorden. Any clearances been submitted as yet??

from all reports Spotty the place to be (obvoius why) big numbers most nites, some of the younger guys looking good after solid gym sessions,

Saw St Albans training last Wednesday, looks pretty ordinary. Maybe 30 blokes if lucky? Most looked like under 18. No Damien Fitz, Sabba Arena, Ian Denning? And Definatley no recruits! Not sure what is happening down there but wouldn't surprise if they were close to the relegation zone!

Even if jason love is told he cant coach whats stopping him from giving the msg's to another coach on the ground while standing behind the fence? its happened before in our league.
