No way, Scott Thompson??

Fook off, we want a bloke that belittles and demeans us in the papers and fooking thinks after 11 games this year with the Dees that he is top ********??

The Adelaide Football Club as an entity will fade away and become another 'bitch', just like the fooking Bulldogs and the Hawks are!!!!

Where is the trades that the AFC Supporters are longing after??

Where is the balls of the fooking Club and MAKE A DECISION that WE WILL NOT TRADE FOOKING CLASS FOR MEDIOCRITY??

FOOK OFF AFC; YOU ARE FULL OF ******** AND ARE LOOKING AFTER YOURSELVES YOU ******** FOR BRAINED MOTHER********ERS!!!

Bit of the top dont you think?

Its not like we just traded away Roo, Macca Edwards for Ryce Shaw.

I think people are being unrealistic in what we could of got. Yes it would of been great to get something a bit better but it aint that easy.
We cannot just go in rape WC or Melbourne in the trades they are a professional club who were always going to play hardball to get the best deal for their respective club.
This deal if fair for everyone and IMO the only possible outcome, 6 weeks ago we would of jumped at this offer.

Whoahhhhh there son!

1) Stenglein is not FOOKING CLASS. He is a very dependable tagger.
2) You obviously haven't seen Thompson play if you think he is MEDIOCRE.

Still, I love your passion! :D

I think the Crows did very well out of this trade. Did anyone hear Cornsey blast Fantasia tonight. Absolutely stupid. Thompson is a very good young player and a good player can be picked up in the second round. I think the Crows definately came out on top

Couldn't have said it better :)

rainmage I think you are REALLY over-reacting. The deal is fair. Yes I would have liked to keep pick 12 and trade pick 24 for Thompson but that would have been raping off the demons and getting away with daylight robbery.

Thompson is a 21 year old inside midfielder with MUCH greater upisde than Stinger. Alredy more polished player than Stinger as far as his skills go.

Fair trade no doubt but I would have liked to hold on the Melbourne side of the deal for a bit longer

Ask yourself this:

Thompson is a young midfielder - turning out to be a great player... and wants to play in/at Adelaide so no dramas.

Stenglein is a tagger - and wants to live and in Perth... if he had of stayed in Adelaide, he wouldn't be keeping his mind on the job and would be in a zone that he doesn't want to be... in which his game would suffer.

Good deal I'd say.

Why did Cornes blast Fantasia and what was the gist of the discussion

That we gave in too easily and we should have gone for Thompson in a separate deal and use our position of strength to force melbourne into uncomfortable situation

Doesn't rate pick 28 and while he is a BIG Thompson fan he thinks Stinger was worth more than given. He wanted Waters or Butler and 1st round pick or Waters and Butler

Glad I have someone who echo's my sentiments
;)

I don't know why some of you crows supportes are upset about. Thompson is going to be a very good player with Mclead,Roo getting older thompson will be your no1 midfielder in a few years. So I think in the long run Ade will come out of the deal way in front.

Sounds like a wet dream of some of the boys around here.

He didn't seriously think that was ever going to happen did he?!
No I would suggest we could have got one of them, but perhaps Melbourne was already involved and this influenced the final direction the Crows took.

Did we have a bad batch of beer to upset the liver today? :D

Scott Thompson was leading Melbourne's clearances and was number 2 in tackles at the club before he got injured. He was averaging over 20 possies a game and proved that he is a matchwinner with that game against Sydney in round 5 where he dominated and kicked 2 very classy goals. He's only 21 and has an extremely bright future. His 1 weakness is that he is a tad slow. Not a major problem though given the role that he plays.

rehab not going well?

After much head-scratching and torrid conversations with my partner's pet chihuahua (is that how you spell it?), I've come to the conclusion that the Thompson deal was a good one. So, I've decided to move on.

I would like the Crows to try and strike up a deal for another top-25 draft pick OR maybe try for Enright (although I've read elsewhere that Port may on-trade the pick they get from Freo to Cats for him). Are we in there trying something else, or have our recruiters mentally come home? What can we offer? Bode? Burton? Doughty? Ladhams? Shirley? (Pagan is a fan apparently, how about a 4th round pick?). Any takers?

I sense we don't have much currency left.

8,12 (Thompson),24,28,40,56 is OK, but another 2nd round pick would be nice.

I don't think we will be doing any other trades to be honest. We migh do one of those glorified David Gallagher for Ben Nelson type deals late on friday. I don't think we will be very active for the rest of the week.

However, I am hoping and praying that WC trade Morrison to Collingwood for pick 23 which we are entitled to instead of pick 28.

So we could be left with picks 8, 23, 24, 40 and 56 at the end of the trade week. Three picks in the top 25 would be great IMHO.

How about we trade Burton for young ruckman or young midfielder :D

Yep, let's hope the Eagles get pick 23 for Morrison (although I reckon the Pies may want another player). 3 picks in the top-25 is almost unheard of at our club! I'm also hoping we might grab a half-decent uncontracted player with our #5 pre-season pick. Not holding my breath though.

hmm here i was thinking that it was a good idea for the AFC to look after itself...

OK I know its far from being a reliable source BUT I found this bit interesting from Rucci's article on the Thompson deal

Win-win as Crows close in on swap

The Crows remain in trade talks with two more deals possible

Now I am interested to know what deals are we trying to get done

of course we are lining up other deals, why else would we move so quickly and structure the stenglein deal the way we did.

if we were done, we would wait for the Morrison deal before completing the stenglein trade.

it may not happen, but it is 100% certain we are trying other things.
