Seriously, some people are over complicating things...

Monster FB/CHB: Carlisle (Chaplin does not hold up under finals pressure).
Ruckman: Smith from GC - Maric does not hold up under finals pressure he is too slow (I don't give a shit if he has a mullet and tries his heart out).
X-Factor: Yarran, Trelor, Dangerfield, just ONE of them but make it happen.

We need size, power, and speed with talent. I have said this all along... we don't have the players to cope with finals football. They are not built for it. The ones who perform are your power athletes (i.e. Stringer, Dangerfield, Tex, Hurn, Hutchings, Kennedy, Darling, Natanui, etc.). We have enough endurance but need power.

Hardwick needs to learn a plan B because we let North have the loose all day and we bombed it long. Our players have no defence and we wait until the opposition lose it to attack so North just sat players on the outside all day and Goldstein just tapped it over to them.

I don't rate Carlsie near the price so I think he could cost us like Chaplin.

Smith I have doubts on, will probably stay in QLD anyway and is FA next year regardless

Yes. If he chose to play for the Tigers, Then I'll pack Griffith's bags.

McBean needs to head Type a the gym. I think he will be a much better player than Griffiths - hence move on Griffiths as we don't have many players available to trade.

I have doubts on McBean but he is worth a shot and if we get Bennell and Treloar we can develop a different more mobile forward line around Ty and JR anyway. We have McKenzie and could target others later anyway.

I think Ty will make it now despite the error of judgement. If Kruzeur stays we might target him in 2-3 years or other ruck options at better value with less risk. Carlton will not be near their window in 3 years and North will hit the wall with Hawks by then

1. Inside Mid
2. Outside Mid with speed.
3. Lead up 3rd Forward
4. Effective Crumbing Small
5. More Athletic Ruckman
6. Team Depth

The outside mid with speed and lead up 3rd forward could be both filled with Bennell

Our Defence was rated 3rd in the H&A season? Seems we have the personnel to rate as highly as this. Agreed that there's improvement needed - ie Chappy does my head in most weeks (CHB needs replacing) and Batch and Hunt can struggle at times and Newy is mostly anonymous, but overall people have been pretty happy with the back 6/7 (notwithstanding yesterday)? Vlas has been a revelation this year and will only get better. A fit Grimes has also been impressive.

We got belted in the Middle and need a quality (fit) mobile Ruck and more midfield depth and class (doesn't every side...). This is the easiest way to take the heat from defence and give forwards more chances to score. Not surprisingly most games we do poorly in we lose the contested ball.

That said, the Forward line has been a mess for 3+ years now and is my personal biggest source of angst. Many games that we've won contested ball and inside 50s we've struggled to score heavily. No crumbers and only Jack can regularly mark or bring the ball to ground (Griff did this reasonably well during his relatively solid stints this year and last year). Has Ty got more of an upside than what we've seen? Or is he a ruck that can stray forward. Big question marks here.

I think we'll be ok with further improvement of Ellis, Lennon, Griff, Astbury, Menadue and some (clever) trading.

I liked Houli yesterday. I have had doubts on him but he is solid enough in certain roles. He is a player that has definitely grown and developed

In order of priority
1. Inside big campaigner like mid who has leadership qualitys as well as smarts and skills
2. Athletic Ruckman, maric is either a second ruckman now or a squad player , we need someone to give us first use to show case the talent of our mids , look at how wce and fre always have first use , its a big part of why we lost the midfield battle
3. Small quick smart forward , pressure is needed in that forward line and we need someone that can get goals from.nowhere
4. Another key back

maybe next year as Maric is not getting younger, but i thought he halved the contest between him and Goldie, and Goldie is the starting AA ruck, and won a swag of media awards, and might taken home the Chas. So between him, Reiwoldt, Rance, Grimes, Miles, how many clear winners did the Tigs have. Obviously Ivan was not a winner. But gees, Dusty had a first quarter to behold, ok, he basically went missing then, but that was one of his best quarters. 'preciate they are "quarters", not "games".
Maric was comfortably beaten imo.

I think we need a rethink and push things a few years back.

I would be chasing Bennell, Weller and Treloar in particular and chase FA targets later possibly.

We can trade out players to get the picks and reshape our list management. This is the way to go IMO.

2016 to be a development year as we build again.

I think GWS and GCS are several years off to so they will not be an issue

You need to get off the happy gas.
My expectations for next year is top 4. Our group cant afford to go backwards. Keep driving fwd imo

yeah, looks good, and looks better having lost about 6lbs, its visible, he is noticably lighter, the AOD works well Ancient Tiger

as long as he can work on the other foot, does he have a dodgy left foot too, that was what happens when Chaplin et al, only going one way in crisis, his athleticism when lighter is more than adequate, before Bachar was only entry level.

Inside mid - Kamdyn McIntosh is an absolute beast who I think should be playing in the guts... We have enough outside runners in our team (B. Ellis, Grigg). He's got the height and weight to be competing with the big boys in close. Like a Josh Kennedy - impossible to tackle. Corey Ellis is gonna be a good inside player too.
Outside mid with speed - Menadue with a bit of weight is gonna be a pearler. Really want us to push hard for Harley - he's a gun.
Lead up 3rd Forward - Ben f*cking Lennon. The Beetle. Absolutely baffling decision to drop him.
Effective Crumbing Small - Yarran has to come into this team especially when we play 3 talls...
More Athletic Ruckman - Z. Smith. Rate him highly, needs a change of scenery.
Team Depth - Depth is what we have. What we lack is class and leadership.

We really need to tweak our game plan. Our tacking pressure is f*cking shit. Our zone was absolutely horrible and has been at times this year. We always get trounced by a more physical and contested side. Dimma always bangs on about how contested ball is so important but neglects to state the importance of tackling - the very essence of contested footy. Melbourne, Bulldogs and Adelaide games spring to mind the most - contested game against low and unproven sides on the ladder and they beat us comfortably.
We are a bruise-free footy team atm, and that isn't gonna stand up in finals.

Might need to step out of the bubble and feel the breeze. We have not won a final yet!
So what? we won 15 games. 3 of the 4 that finished above us will decline. Any your saying drop back... our list is still relatively young and ripe to keep moving fwd. We'd be the first club in history to win 15 games miss the top 4 by an errant kick then rebuild. What your saying is ludicrous.

Yeah but Bulldogs will rise, West Coast stay strong, Freo who knows with trades, like North. Adelaide, Geelong with trades? Swans be around with the academy

Remember getting Treloar,Bennell and Weller will not put us back too much. It will just let us chase bigger targets down the track when better players are available at value.

There is no point chasing Chaplin types that are not good enough to get you to the top 4 like a Carlsie,Yarran that stop us chasing genuine quality when available!

Can't take too much notice of Home and away given the prevalence of tanking. Collingwood managed their draft position well but they do not have the youth assets to draw on that we do. That's why we should probably trade the likes of Concave and Griff to Freo with McCarthy to get the youth and future flexibility in our list we need and scope to enable us to develop a real premiership quality capability.

The other thing is non-top4 capability gives us more currency in future draft picks to get Treloar and Bennell while we target other bigger names later. For example we might be forced to chase a Goldstein later or settle for a Cunnigton depending on howNorth slips, or maybe another and there obviously are other opportunities going forward in FA like a Barlow depending on where players and clubs are at provided we set us up right.

It seems in finals we lack top line talent so we need to adjust our options to attract such talent IMO

Don't get the griff hate. Probably got asked to play and didn't want to let the team down by being injured. Had he kicked those goals we would be praising the bloke. Think he can be a good swing man for us. Conca had 8 touches and a goal in a quarter and a bit. That's one less than cotchin and 2 less than Ellis in a whole game.
