I know this has probably been posted before, but just keen to see what you guys are using.

I just cracked my V100 recently, which gave me 4 years of service, and I just got a new Gray Nicolls Rapier 400, and made 53* on my first knock. Beautiful piece of willow it is! :)

I just got myself a shiny new Gunn & Moore Purist Original LE.
Went with the 2lb 14oz, probably should have gone the 2lb 12oz. version.

Feels wonderful, just hope it is worth the expense of getting it sent over.

Very nice. Co-incidentally, I had the exact same bat except the 2 12 oz on order, but struggled to get my hands on one.

So I went with something of equal value. Done me well so far, with an unbeaten 50. :)

They are hard to find. I got a mate in Essex to get one for me and send it over. Cost a packet.

I thought the GM bat was worth a fair bit more, well it was at the place i got it from anyway.

Not equal money value, but I was informed that the Rapiers were of a class similar to the Purists.

After road testing a Rapier against some decent bowling, 120 k's +, the rapier had a superb feel. I just knew.... :)

6 grain lines, the absolute perfect amount for a bat with no knot flaws. Beautiful piece of timber.

Good luck with your GM too buddy. :)

Ah, i see.

Was worried that i might have paid over the odds for mine.

Cheers.

Although it won't get a decent hitout for 12 months given i've done my knee.

Sad to see such a beautiful bat sitting in the corner of the room without a cherry on it.

Here's the bat that i bought, as used by the flat track bully that is Michael Vaughn.

Christ mate. You need a reco?

I do, but given i did it some 3 months ago, i can't see me getting the surgery done anytime soon.

Still, i think i can handle the discomfort whilst i'm covered by a medical certificate and thus getting paid for doing absolutely nothing. :p

Any bat i use is for decoration purposes only. I usually grab one of my teamates bats and tell him ill give it back in few seconds. Anyway batting gets in the way of a good ****up. Don't take cricket too seriously in D grade :D

When I last played cricket (last year), I didn't have a decent size bat so I ended up just using this Stuart Surridge bat (with Mark Taylor's signature spread across the 'meat') that I won in the Toyota Banner Competition a few years back. Sure did look stupid walking out to the crease with a signature covering my bat, but it was better than paying heaps for a new one I thought. :)

Good to see another person with good taste. How much did that bugger set you back ?? And if you have the ability to match such a majestic piece of willow, give me a call - we'll find a spot for you somewhere in our late order !!

I use a Gunn & Moore Maxi 909, just bought it this year. Still have my Gunn & Moore Maestro from 1978, it's one of the originals and it's still a cracker !!

By the way, didn't we do this same topic a short while ago ????

Yep, the Purist is one fine (yet expensive) piece of Willow. I could afford it at the time, and I did test one out, and it had a fantastic feel to it, but when I picked up the Rapier it was just for me, and I knew straight away! :D The bastard was so elusive, impossible to get your hands onto one either. Ive always been a Gray Nicolls person anyways, after the V100, I had a Gladius, which I definately cant afford now. :(

And to the second part of your question , I think there may have been a similar topic in the recent past, but i'm sorry but I made another one. :)

Too much.

Just quietly, it cost me about $400 before shipping. Probably overpayed, but it was the best price available in London (my mate found it for me).

Nah, i'm a battler with the bat. My forte is left arm chinaman (turn them a mile, although i still struggle to land them).

They are definitely on sale here in Oz :

Researched superior technology provides longevity, credibilityand good looks to this bat that has been around as a genuine top shelf product for 'Good On' 5 to 6 years. Try it this time.

'true british elegance'
Size Price(Inc. GST)
Std. Men's $495.00
Long Blade $495.00

Still using my Powerspot, it's a lovely piece of willow. I'd tried out quite a few newer bats since I got my hands on it in 98, but nothing feels quite the same :)

Then again that's always the way with a bat you grow accustomed to.
