Could be his last season with the pies the way his going...
I wish he good be a solid wingman for us (at least), but for some reason we waste him down back.

It seems he has everything that you would want in a footballer: speed, height & a great kick, but he just cant find the ball. How i wish he could take a ruck-rover type role and get the hardball from the middle and kick long to Tarrant!

Why not we flip a coin?

Head he stays, Tails he leaves!

j/k

The way he is going, it looks like his last season down at magpie land. MM even said that he can't improve on his footy anymore (take the next step).

well, you're saying he reqached his potental?

wwll, i think he still got a bit more, or else, send him to the hawks and never be seen again

The question really should be, what does Ryan Lonie do with his football career. Its up to him, not the club or the coach. He's had a million opportunities already, and he'll have plenty more if he gets his head right.

Time for kid gloves is over. Stand up Ryan, or move aside for somebody else.

I don't get why he's all of a sudden become a liability!

Even if he's plataued for eternity, he's still a handy height, has great footskills, can take a mark etc. and he's just turned 22 FFS!!

I hope he works hard to get back in the team, but sometimes I feel our coach hasn't got a flexible enough head to work out what to do with him.

There have been worse players in need of a stint in the ressies (even a permanent stint), but Lonie appears to be the whipping boy for the coach this year. OB and Williams are teacher's pets and I know who I'd be playing ahead of them!

Nobody expects much from O'B and Williams, so when they let us down there's no disappointment. Lonie's got the potential to actually be something, but he hasnt played anywhere near what he's capable of for over two years.

I for one would not be looking to keep him until at least the end of 2006. Short term, a month or more for Willy should do him the world of good, although the way they are playing I'm not sure if it will be much of a confidence booster!!!

im surprised that obree and williams are getting games and lonie is with the reserves. Lonie is younger than both and we its his day he can play very well.
I'll love 2 get rid of Obree and Williams 1st before thinking of letting Lonie go.

I remember when he first started playing and he would get the ball off the half back flank and explode down the wing and kick his beautiful long bombs either to the goal square or through the middle.

I also remember about two seasons ago when he came out and looked like he had spent the entire pre season in the gym. I remember saying to a mate that he looked like he had lost about 3 yards in pace due to the bulking up. I think he looks a lot slower than he used to be. Dont know what can be done about it.

Trade bait at the end of the season
O'Bree
Williams
Lonie
Should be able to get something for at least Obree and Williams. Would like a first round choice for them.

But he has had a few personal tradagies in his life recently.

Drop Williams & give Lonie his role in the team.

MM uses Williams as an attacking option.

MM uses Lonie as a defensive option.

Lonie is taller, faster,a better kick & more versatile than Williams.

Maxwell to replace Lonie in defense
Lonie to replace Williams in attack

No I think they should make him earn his stripes, he has been dropped rightfully so. All reports suggest that he was poo and looked disintrested in the magoos. To me that suggests him thinking that he is too good and shouldn't be in the magoos. Untill he strings some games together in the magoos keep him there.

Who are you trying to kid???

A 1st round pick for O'bree or Williams... you have got rocks in your head!

keep him in the reserves, lost all confidence in first 2 games, by some reports disinterested down at Willy so why pick him this week

from my spot in the stand at Telstra Dome against Crows in some contests he was soft as butter, so whoever it was who said they would love him playing ruck rover and getting the hard ball...well i dont think it will happen, wing or forward flank are his best spots

obree and williams arent doing much wrong at the moment, im sick of people saying drop them drop them, because it is just stupid talk

Play him on the wing at Willi until he finds solid form, then play him on the wing at Collingwood and if he proves he is a good AFL wingman by the end of the year then we have answered the question and if he doesn't trade him along with Leon Davis and along with the delistinbg of Lokan, O'Bree and Williams we have our 5 spots for draft picks. If we want to promote Fannning we'll have to make 1 more spot. I nominate a trade for Walker. he's an athletic tall who looks likely but he has no realy footy ability. He can't ruck, he can't defend and as a forward he's barely taken a mark or kicked a goal. He would be over valued and we have plenty of talls to concentrate on developing.

See list management is as bloody hard as Mick says it is!

i hate how ppl get on here and bag the players coaches anyone possible and its only round 3 gees get behind the team and stop bagging them.

lol newbie rant...but you are pretty much spot on, but if they have good years wouldnt that increase their trade worth.....?

as for bobneil's post about getting a first round pick for those particular players...ive just picked up on that and you are delusional

I'd rather delist Morrison/Hall/J Cloke than lose Walker. Walker is going to replace Presti or Wakelin before too long.

Apart from that you've got it pretty much right, unless we chase a big name.

The current situation with Ryan really burns me. He's confidence is completely shattered at the moment. I've said on here before that going down to Williamstown is not the solution for him. MM needs to tell him that he's in the side for the next four weeks and your going to play where you can play your best football. Why not just put him in the forward pocket for a little while? His ideal spot is on the wing. I just can't see the logic in a player with the attacking skills of Lonie playing down back. We would all be inconsolable if Lonie asks to be traded, goes to a club like St Kilda, and flourishes. We need Lonie playing well, for Collingwood.
