Has to go - I don't care how badly the Aussies batted today, Watson did little contribute.

Has to rate as the most overrated Australian sportsman in terms of what he contributes.

I feel uncomfortable with him at 3. Either opens, but won't happen with Finch and Warner there, or down at 6, where his hitting can be valuable. 3 is just too important a position.

Don't see the point playing him in front of Bailey if he isn't going to bowl. He has a terrific one day record but he's simply not playing well. At 33yo he may not again either. Definitely won't play ahead of Faulkner.

He said Extra bowling option.. not Mitch Marsh. That batting lineup you listed there has 4 batsmen, 3 all rounders, a wicket keeper and 3 bowlers. Just 4 batsmen, no wonder we got rolled for 151.

It's a strong batting line up. Regardless of today.
How? You've got three guys in the lineup who are hit and miss and 75% of that time it is a miss. You've got Smith who's hit the end of his ridiculous form. Clarke who hasn't hit a decent score in ages and Mitch Marsh who is young, raw and not good enough to be in the team as a batsman or bowler. Then you have Faulkner who is only good for the final ten overs, Haddin who did well today but is a rare occurence lately. 151 seems pretty accurate.

Finch and Warner are both capable of 100 in little time

Clarke and smith are solid

Maxwell has a unique quality

Bailey/marsh better than Watson

The rest is a stronger than average tail

Both are quite capable of getting out for little in little time

Clarke and smith are solid
Not Clarke in the last year and Smith has 9 runs in his two WC games, while he got out for 1 against India in the warm up game

Maxwell has a unique quality
I agree, the ability to get out like no one else can

Bailey/marsh better than Watson
On form, Bailey is not. On talent and form Marsh is not.

You should never ever be relying on your tail. Handy to have, but you don't want to go to it to survive.

The team is capable of collapsing or making 450. What do you propose they do to fix it? It would be nice to Have Michael Beven or Mark Waugh but they dont.

I dont think Watson is the answer.
