Hey Tigarians,

What do you remember of Richmond's Brent Hartigan?

I remember he played a good season of AFL 2005 on my slimline PlayStation 2...

I don't really remember him but he did play 35 games for us.

Memories?

I was an impressionable young child ... I liked him, I don't know why.....

When you read about him he was small but had a lot of potential, where did he go wrong?

Did well in his first year I think it was albeit in a very average team. Even won himself a rising star nomination IIRC. Either his second or third year he struggled... Didn't get much game time under plough. Think in the end he was too slow and really didn't have many strings to his bow.

I vaguely remember watching him play. He was good mates with Newy to I think.

Probably relied a bit too much on desperation and bit too little on skill. You just can't afford to put guys out on the park who can't hit a target, and from memory he suffered a bit from what was a pretty common problem for us back then. I think he battled injuries post 2005 as well - bad back maybe?

He had the Morris courage ie hard at it but with ZERO skills. The shanks and missed handballs were a sight to see. Brent had pace though and combine that with his courage he could break a line once in a while. When he first came on to the scene he seemed to have upside. As he got injured, did a bad hammy if my memory serves ? His confidence got hit and his skills went to shit.

I can remember seeing a segment about him early on in the Wallace years where him and a few of the players were visiting kids in a hospital. The interviewer mentioned something along the lines of him being a young player and a young leader at the club due to there being a influx of younger guys in recent times.

Was probably better than Ty Zantuck and less of a knob :D

Debuted R1. Mature body but never really slimmed down to what was needed. Tough unit, but ultimately more a trier without a single feature of his game that was at a very good or excellent level. Had the ball in his hand when we beat Hawks by 1 point at Etihad one night in Frawley's last year.

Probably would have graduated to midfield (from the backline) in due course, but someone with a relatively low ceiling and never really had the opportunity. Maybe he didn't take it.

Was drafted late, so hardly a bust.

I actually met Tim, Have a photo of him on my Iphone at a conference we attended together. He is quite a top bloke and honest. From the bloke himself, he knew he was limited as a player so he made sure when he was on the field he gave everything. He regrets the Riewoldt smack but he said he the saints players on the ground were a mouthy bunch and after the hit they shut the hell up...brought him another beer after that :P

Loved the club, still uses the boxing facility and tries to help the club when and were he can. Was not happy being delisted only for the fact that even though he was limited as a footballer he loved and bled for the jumper. Really genuine guy.

Works for Stockdale & Leggo now apparently.

Going by his twitter it looks like he loves the punt. ....giddy up.
A few years ago I went into VRC headquarters to update my membership and he was working there so he must have an interest.
