Just wondering the thoughts of a few draftees that we have and have had in the past my first player is Adam Chatfield who is no longer with the club but right from the start i knew he was not going to make it he was on Carlton's list for quite a while and then Geelong drafted him which was a big mistake as i he didnt do a thing a carlton.

also why do we still have chambers on the list, we have kingy and loatsey why is chambers still here?

Chatfield wasn't a senior listed player.He was only on the Rookie List.

Yes i realise this but what is the point of drafting a player on the rookie list without the intention of him hopefully giving something back to the club and maybe breaking through into the senior list.

There must have been something that caught their eye with Chaty.Sometimes its just giving somebody a fresh start at a different club or it might be just best of whats rest when you have a pick. I'd have to say, I dont particularly see much in that Koolaroolaitiitis bloke that we picked up but maybe with time he will develop.Its pretty judgemental.
On the whole, I think Geelongs Rookies have been as good as anyones in the numbers progressing onto the senior list and thats got to be what its all about giving potential players more time to come up to the level.In cost terms its fairly effective if keeping players and giving them a couple extra years at an AFL allows them to become players rather than trying to recrruit them later.
Why do we have Chambers?Im no great fan of his but we probably need 4 ruckmen capable of AFL not 3.Look at the headlines, the big guys are going down like flys.Probably with our bank of onballers we should a couple of rookie ruckmen to give us a chance of developing an extra one.

Why do we have Chambers? Because we need 3 ruckman. Im sure the club didnt plan on having Mooney & Playfair rucking rounds 3-7 at the start of the season. They have both filled in very well, but im sure the club would ideally like King rucking fully fit & Loats as back up while having Mooney & Playfair at either end of the ground.
