If it is shorter and thinner I call it a jacket and if it is longer and thicker I call it a coat but is there an official difference between a jacket and a coat?

I always wear smart jackets with jeans and heels...
By all means, continue to wear the look. It's a nice style and I do mean style as opposed to fashion. Depending on the occasion and location, odd jackets and jeans are very smart and even classy.
It's not dressy though.![]()

And if you read my originial post, I said the Jacket was dressy- not the look of the jacket with the jeans.
