Lately,I notice more and more that posters are not including Kerr in our future midfield discussions.Others are suggesting alternative positions for him to play.
Have we sub conciously eliminated him from the equasion?
If so maybe a trade while he still has currency should be on the cards.
Has hardly performed in the last 2 seasons and we are progressing in the nurturing of a young midfield without him.
At Richmond all speak very highly of how Cousins works with and advises their young midfield off the ground.
I have not heard anything similar with Kerr at The WCE.
I was once Kerrs biggest fan but as of late I am seeing him more as a high priced liability with very little upside.
We all make excuses for him and say that when others step up he will have the pressure taken off him.
He is supposed to be our no mid and should be able to take a tag.
In fact the younger brigade have actually stood up in his absence.

He is a game breaker and necessary. He has struggled being the only recognised mid out there but that wont happen forever...

Not in my team, maybe once upon a time but not any longer.

Which is why we are all very grateful that you have nothing to do with our team. :)

I am fascinated to see the 3 onballers (non ruck) who you have ahead of Kerr in the centre square. Hilariously, you will probably have Priddis.

So over to you for your starting 3?

I think Kerr has copped some unfair critcism since Judd and Cuz left. In 2008, he was the only star in one of the most shittest midfield in the comp, and thus he copped alot of attention from the opposition while the other midfielders were allowed to run on their own due to the little hurt factor they had. The season opener against the Lions, Kerr single handedly got us up. From there he was always going to cop the extra attention. This season, he played with the young kids, and showed if he has some decent support, he can rip a game apart. Unfortunately, injury got the better of him. I thought he showed great temperament this season in the games he played compared to 2008, were he would have belt some player.:p So next season hopefully with a full pre-season and decent support he should be back to his best.

I think for whatever reason people have just lowered their expectations of Kerr, and for what it's worth that's a good thing if we aren't putting too much pressure on him to take control of the midfield. I think if the midfield is built up around him again we'll see him at his best.

Ofcourse Kerr will play for many years yet, initially next year Swift and Shuey might struggle to get games even if fit. Ebert, Masten and Priddis will all get games ahead of them early in 2010. They will have to press for places.

My comment was in reply to a post re Kerr being the first picked every week.

You should read properly before resorting to your usual uncalled for demeaning and inflammatory attacks on posters who are making meaningful contributions to this board.

Hilarious stuff Ted :thumbsu:

So he is second picked after Cox?

Given the importance of the midfield, who would you be picking ahead of him?

Maybe 3rd picked, Glassy....

I know who would be the first picked but alas he's at Brisbane!

Hey E87 that new tart on your avatar looks on the youngish side.

John Brown would be first picked at most clubs, let alone the Eagles.

Cox and Kerr not playing seems to have 'made' the youngsters play. It is almost as if they have said to themselves Kerry and Coxy aren't here so we'll have to do it.

The problem for kerr is his size, a small midfielder is way easier to contain /tag than a taller, big bodied midfielder!
