I just saw the result on the AFL website, were the WCE even on the field? What positives can we take out of this game? what crap will KJ come up with now to take the blame off him?

I've always said to keep judge until atleast the end of the season, but if we don't win in the next two games then i'm gonna join those calling for his head.

Maybe we should sack him and give a 3yr contract to worsfold, i don't think he could do any worse.

What the hell just happened?

The Eagles looked okay in the first and were unlucky to be down by so much at the first change - we kicked badly in front of goals, they were very accurate (and got some arsey frees). Probably experience with the local conditions. When the margin got out we dropped our heads and the rout was on.

I'm sick of the Eagles making themselves look weak in the process. Injuries can't be held as excuses anymore - it's shape up or ship out in my book. If some of the more 'senior' players won't be accountable, tough. Get Humm and a few of his mates from the WAFL in for a run - they can't do any worse than this mob!

I feel that I have lost my will to live. I will not let my two boys watch the Eagles. I would rather tell them about our glory days.

I enjoy watcghing the young guys develop. I am also very patient. Judgey will not fix this overnight. Retirements will occur and the list will be culled. We just have to be patient.

But it just hurts so much.

Just imagine if Carlton had kicked straight, its scary just thinking about it. Whats wrong with the players, they aren't playing with any pride or passion for the club! Someone mentioned that at least WC is a professional club compared to Freo, this isn't necessarily good by all means. Some of the players are out there playing professionally for the money and not the club, sure they are pissed off at themselves but do those players really care about how they are playing for the CLUB? I sense that there maybe another big cull at the end of this year.

It is the coaches fault, I'm talking from experience here. Last year for the school footy team(yr11's + 12's) we had this teacher coaching us that yelled at us, embarrased us in front of each other, dragged us off the ground if we made a mistake, did all the stuff KJ does. We lost that game by 89pts (95 to 6, one freakin goal from a 50m penalty).
So for the next game we asked to have a different teacher coach us. This guy encouraged us, if someone was playing bad at qtr time he would say "look at this guy, he's trying his guts out", when we went against the wind he told us to kick it low and wide. When we had the wind we went down the middle and only had 3 players in our forward line(not to overcrowd it). He asked people what their favourite position was and played them there. He let us pick our captain and never had someone sitting on bench too long. And he especially told us to be gracious in defeat, acknowledge the other team if we won(say something nice to them, not be cocky) not to complain to umpires and to be disciplined.
We won our next 3 games, unfortunately the other team(the one that beat us) won 3 and drew one so we didn't make it through to the next phase. But we respected this teacher, listened to his every word and most importantly we enjoyed ourselves.

The same applies to AFL. Why did Malthouse take the eagles from 11th in '89(i think) to 3rd in '90? Why has Pagan taken the roos to the preliminarie every year since '93? Simple, players respect them, not fear them.

It's all KJ fault, these players were drafted because they have ability. I refuse to believe there is a 119pt difference between the WCE players abilities and the blues players.

IMO i think it is a combination of coach and players that is the problem ,this current crop of players dont seem to clicking in with KJ .There will be ether a couple of big name players gone at the end of 2001 or the coach.

K.J is supposed to be REBUILDING the eagles ,it looks like a demalition to me .I know a "true" supporters are supposed to stick with your club thru thick and thin .I accecpt losse's on the chin I,m prepared to accecpt that the next 2-3 years wins will be thin ,but in no way am I prepared to accecpt the chicken hearted garbage that was dished up today,to see some players reaction after todays game tells me they arn,t hurting ,having a nice old chit chat with the oppistion. Point taken, but you have to realise that Judge is what we have at the moment...

Well, after three straight losses by over 70 points i thought we had seen the worse but boy was i wrong. Its hard to sit here and describe the game to those who didnt see it. For the first time in my Eagle following career i got close to just turning off the tv to save myself the heartache. But i stuck with it and boy was i glad because we played so well

At the end of the year its time to get rid of some players throw some trades around get some new blood in. My jury is still out on Judge. I look at Drummy and he has coached his team to a winning position in most of the games this year but his players throw it away, so its not always the coachs fault.

Gardiner was the only winner on the ground and he only slightly outplayed Porter, Kerr and Cousins ran hard and played as best they could and Jakovich looked to find a little form. But there can be no excuses after a performance that i thought only the shockers could produce.

Looks great for a win next week though with the Lions fresh off beating the Bombers

What i was trying to point out is that different teams need different coaches. At school we played to enjoy ourselves and so we needed a coach that made us feel good. If we wanted to be yelled at we would of joined a club.

West Coast have an inexperienced team that doesn't need to be publicly critisized, doesn't need complicated game plans, and doesn't need midfielders played in defense(wirra).

Thats what i was telling to tell you, not that we need a nice guy to coach us.

These players are getting paid bucket loads of money to perform and as such they are open to criticism from the memebers ( they are the ones who pay their exorbitant fees ) ...Football is a business first and foremost and the players need to be held out to dry if they are not up to scratch.

Slovenly negativity personified. And that is exactly how the Eagles play under him. He bags the players...no wonder they bag each other eg the attack on Jako over the captaincy.

I didn't think much of KJ as a coach before we got him. Haven't changed my mind on that issue. But you can't put all tha blame on the coach. The players have to have the passion to win and they just don't have it. I neally turned the TV off but I sat through the game. I didn't see much that could give me some hope that we could win a game soon. It's no good saying bring in the young ones cos their not doing much in the WAFL either.

When we are getting beaten by so much and have no chance of getting back, can someone please tell me why a coach won't try something different.

I agree that the coach inspires, motivates and is most likely the most important person in the club...

BUT

Surely its time some of the players started taking some responsibility for the thrashings their being dealt week in week out???

I saw Judge shaking his head and the negativity is there for everyone to see, but i just feel that the players have to do something as well, after the game yesterday i saw some of the players smiling and laughing with the Carlton players !!
I didnt find anything to smile at, how did they??

They have come to expect losses as part of there building phase. They expect to lose and when they do it doesn't hurt them.

We should dump Fletcher, Wilson, Braun, Morrison, Wirrpunda and any other player who thinks they are automatic selections every week. Sure Braun, Wirrpunda and Morrison do better than a lot of players on the team, but of the 60 possessions they rack up betweem them, maybe 15 are effective, the rest are either blind kicks down the field or turnovers.

Make these players earn their spots, like Kerr, Hunter, Gaspar, Cousins, Gardiner, Kemp,etc do.

If not sack the coach, than send a message to the players that come september most of their spots will be under review!!!

Andrew Donnelly: is/was injured, I think. But dammit we need someone who at least has a little experience as a CHF.

Josh Wooden: Also injured. Thank God. I pity the day we are forced to play Wooden on the grounds of ability.

Ok, so we were appalling.

We all know and agree that we are going through a rebuilding phase and expect losses, although possibly not to this degree.

But, are we and more importantly the players using this as an excuse for losing? If, subconsciously the players are 'expecting' to lose, surely it has to be to the detrimant of their own performances? It's been widely commented on that we only have a couple of players giving it their all each week - perhaps the others can't be bothered, afterall 'we are re-building....' Why put your body on the line if 'we're going to lose anyway..'

Then again, that could possibly be a good line of thinking, why risk any more injuries Maybe Judgey does know what he's doing afterall....

I was disgusted when i saw some players laughing and having a good ole chat after the game was over.

I want passion, like what Hudgton (sp?) showed after that loss last year for StKilda. Actually pouring water over his head to hide the tears!! Thats passion! And thats what i want to see. Not a laugh and a joke after Carlton embarrassed us.

Oh, and Donnelly has not played one injury free game. Wooden is just back after 8 weeks shoulder injury. The guy has fight and passion if lacking in disposal skills. We need someone to get in there and fight for the ball.

Im with you Frodo on the Wooden issue. Put him in the team and he will give it everything he's got because he knows if he doesnt impress this year he will definitely be gone at the end of teh season. So put him in the team and watch him fight for every possesion.

But Josh if your reading when you get the ball give it to Kemp or Taylor or Cousins, your disposal is woeful
