I heard that there is an NFL punter who is about 49 years of age and still going strong. If the AFL became more like the NFL with massive squads on the bench, (and long playing lists) it would be possible for some of the games greats to continue playing without necessarily hampering the development of younger player.... I would like to ask the question of which ex-Carlton player you wish was still running around in a Carlton jumper, how much game time would you want them to get in 2008, and what role you would expect them to play?

Karl Norman.

I'm not joking either.

The bloke was a gun, and would've been a far better option than Bower running off half-back.

I wish he hadn't had so many off-field problems, I still remember that game he destroyed Phil Matera at Optus Oval. It was a thing of beauty.

Kouta and Lappin should be playing next year in my opinion (if fit), I still feel they could of gone one more year especially now with Juddy and Hadley, kouta and lappo could be an integral part of our team if we were to make finals in '08. Massive experience boost as well mentors to the young blokes.

Definitely... and if you include Lance in that as well... it would be a good balanced team.

If Lance was still there, then I would put him in the FF position and have Fev as the CHF... how many times have we seen him bullocking up the field as it he was an attacking CHF.

yeh few of our young guys in the past lik Norman and Angwin would be fantastic players at them moment if they didnt have problems and if we had better coaching staff at the time

Easy Diesel in the engine room, had the best hands ever in the game and with all our outside runners he would have been putting 25 - 30 meter handballs laces out to the likes of running simpson, walker, murphy, stevo, juddy , hadley, carrazo, bower, gibbs and anyone else who wants the ball on a platter

Laurence Angwin ...

any bloke that is 200 cm and has superb agillity, vertical leap, foot skills as well as being able to run 20 metres in 2.84 - is a talent.

We'd defiatley be a different side today with Laurence still in our line up ...

If only he had a brain.

Yeh...

Imagine both Angwin and Norman both in our team-we would be looking even better.

Such a waste of talent-makes me sad every time I think about it, becase they both had the talent to be excellent players for us for a long time.

ahhh the nostalgia!

Imagine Diesel Williams sitting on an extended bench of 15! he could come on for 10 minute bursts. drooool. wish it could happen. Judd and Diesel in the same team! shame about the bone- on-bone knee troubles.

I agree that its a shame Judd will never get to play with Kouta or Lappin, it truly is a new era at Carlton.

Angwin would have been a star, no doubt about. 'Such is life'

I agree and to a certain extent I agree with Angwin. Another is Justin Davies. He was going to be a very good footballer.

Very sad to see Beauy and McKay leave. I think that they had leadership to give. Leadership is the quality that has really been lacking. You could also throw Ratts into that.

Harry Madden for mine.
If you could stop the game after each centre square bounce - ala NFL, and just bring him on to take the tap..........we would still dominate the centra square hitouts IMO.:thumbsu:
