Query What Sydney club tried to poach Topsy Waldron?

From a book "Everything you ever wanted to know about Australian Rules Football but couldn't be bothered asking" (gotta be a record for longest book title ever!)

Topsy Waldron of Carlton was offered good money from a Sydney club in 1878 but turned it down for a better offer from the Redlegs.

Does anyone know what Sydney club made this offer?

Carlton and waratah played matches under each codes rules

He was one of three from Carlton
Billy Dedman and Billy Bracken being the others


Arthur Diamond the first Norwood secretary, was instrumental in bringing leading
Melbourne footballers over who linked op with Norwood
