Baker should have got a 50 m penalty - we should have won !!
But would have that been counted if he had kicked it though?

Did NONE of the umpires hear the siren???? How the hell can 8 Freo players spontaneously throw their arms up into the air (when they clearly heard the siren) in victory and the umpire motion them away and continue with the game??? Seems to me the umpires should be sacked, the point disallowed, and Freo awarded the win.

Umpires screwed up bigtime then! I think Freo should have won that.. the siren must have gone atleast 5 seconds before Baker kicked the first point.
Your thoughts?

Its always best to ask people with un biased opinions... just look at some of the responses to this geelong supporter.

Freo won this game. This game is slowly losing its appeal to me i know thats sad but true.

Chris Connoly should complain to the afl. I would also hope that daniher would support him because this is an absolute disgrace.

Time Keeper should have been consulted

I'd be worried about your coach as well.

Grant Thomas' interview showed what a classless man he is. He is truly a tool.

And he has a worst coaching career winning record than Connolly!!!!

What did Thomas do??

If he actually said they should have won (FREO) then i'd go hit him myself, the way the game is now, the amount of pressure on coaches, he should've avoided the topic, not say anything!!

Given the circumstances both Connolly and Thomas came out of their immediate interviews on Channel 9 (with Michael Roberts) with their heads held high. Thomas basically said that Fremantle were the better team and that he was happy with a draw. What else did you expect him to say?

That's true but in fairness to the umpire he should make his own decision and not be influenced by the players (or else everytime they appeal for a free kick they should give it to them?)

The game's not over until the umpire blows the whistle !!

:thumbsd: You and every other Saints fan know that today was a farce.

Besides, it looks like Freo might get the last laugh. The rule requires that the siren sound until the umpire hears it and calls an end to play. That didn't happen... opens the door to a challenge.

It's got nothing to do with influencing the umpy, it's a general fact. The siren went. In saying that congrats on the comeback. I love it when we play the Saints. Always a good close contest, regardless of playing quality. Hopefully next time we play you at Subi it'll be under different circumstances and without the controversy.

yeh u can use ur powers to delete my posts all u want, but to think u actually "should have won" the game astounds me at the fickle nature of some supporters

can some1 please explain 2 me wot happened

After holding a comfortable lead at 3/4 time, Freo capitulated and allowed the Saints back into the match. With a one point lead nearing full time, a pack formed in the St Kilda forward line and a ball up called. The game clock should then have been stopped. Apparently the siren sounded while the clock should have been stopped. The umpires couldn't hear the siren and continued to bounce the ball. The Saints moved the ball to Baker who had a shot - scoring a point. He was disposed of poorly after his kick and the umpires ruled that he gets another shot. He missed that one as well. But there was some contraversy as to whether it should have been a 50 m penalty, or a shot from the nearest point to where the ball landed.
Freo supporters claim that before Baker had his first kick, the siren went off, and this may well be true, but the game is ended by the umpire signalling the end of the match. Not the siren.
