how different would your post be if the boot was on the other foot.

Do you mean like the last time we met and the umpires gifted them the 4 points and then boasted about it on the plane on the way back?

Fremantle was cheated today and any stkilda supporter attempting to justify that game as a fair result is a disgrace. I hate freo but i really feel for them today and if it were richmond it had of happend it too the umpires would not have got out of the ground alive.

10.4.1 End Of Quater

The Timekeepers shall sound the siren to signal the end of a qrt until a field umpire acknowledges that the siren has been heard and brings play to an end

10.4.3 Signal

A field umpire shall signal that he or she has heard the siren by blowing a whistle and hold both arms above his or head.

There was no signal therefore the game was still playing
END OF STORY.
if freo really wanted to win they would have stopped us.

The siren still hasn't sounded though if you go by that ruling ;)

I want to know what the umpire said in the middle of the ground that resulted in the dockers start to celebrate only for it to be over turned.

If I was a punter who had money on the game I would look at taking a class action at the AFL and the stadium for playing in unsuitable conditions.

im shattered, what a joke!ten players telling him its over because the sirens gone and he still bounces it,and then gives a free kick for poor disposal,we didnt touch it.will the saints say your robbed we dont want the points.nope they will laugh and say tough.the afl will do nothing but give poor reasons.yet all teams are meant to try and further the game, its a sad day for afl.it'll be a long time before it is over and i'm sure they will be legal action for something

oops sorry i was told i was on the main board.

As a neutral spectator at the game it was obvious that the siren went (even though I didn't hear it), players from BOTH teams reacted, freo players went up in jubilation while St. Kilda players dropped their heads.

In modern footy there is no way that Thomas didn't know how long was left, he should be gracious and accept defeat, saving the AFL the embarrasment of having to investigate (and do nothing because they would not want to blame their sacred but incompetent umpires.)

I dont expect much from saints fans but i think you're seriously low if you dont admit you lost that game.

Why would you suggest that Thomas is in any way responsible?

Every time he has tried to do things for the good of the game, he receives a backlash from the AFL (including some hefty personal fines).

The umpires are responsible for ending the match, not GT.

Geez.

Thomas stated in his press conference that he didn't hear the siren and didn't know the game was over, I'm not saying it was his fault, just that I don't believe that the coaches don't know exactly how long there is to go in a game. It was obvious that the Freemantle box knew how long to go so why would the saints box be any different?

He didn't state that he wasn't aware that the time was up.

He was asked if he heard the siren. He answered that question.

I still don't understnd why in a St.Kilda forum, there's a vast majority of other teams' fans posting. Why don't you go say all this in the main boards and leave us alone? As if it was our fault all the siren-dilema happened.

To the Richmond guy who says no umpire would leave alive from the stadium: you really are a disgrace to the human race. People like you are the ones who start wars, fights, bashings, etc... Do you really think that is how a person should behave? With fans like you, this game doesn't get anything positive at all. What are you going to do to someone who steals something from you? Cut his hand? Come on, we're on the 21st century. Grow up.

I can't comment anything about the siren as I haven't watched the game (just listened to the radio, and I couldn't hear the siren either nor the commentators could), but I want to watch it before stating my opinion.

I was at the game today. Can i say as a bulldog supporter I am certain that many people on the ground heard the siren and many people on the ground did not (freeo, stkilda umpires included). The issue in not about poor umpiring, the issue is about how the F&*k can the AFL allocate a game to a stadium that cannot meet the basic standards...........Don't blame the umpires for not hearing something that many others on the ground did not hear..........

Same old StKilda.. always cheating!!

EVERY SINGLE YEAR!

Poor call, St.Kilda didn't cheat.
Unless I missed St.Kilda causing the umpires to make the mistake.

Umpire error...simple.

.

Can you please explain when and where Saint Kilda cheated...each year. Where are the facts on this, I'd love to follow this up if its at all possible.

In all defence of the umpire/s, maybe we should put ourselves in his/their shoes.
How many screaming fans, players from Fremantle appealing about the Saint players last move, and his whistle going off, if fans and people on the boundary line didn't hear it and also the fact that the commentators on tv said the siren wasn't loud all day, how was the umpire supposed to hear it.

I've watched the replay several times now, and I still do not hear it.

I think alot of people have made good points. As far as channel 9 was concerned the game was over, but as we know the umpires control the game and until their arms are raised the game is still on. As they say its not over until its over. Watching it i didnt even hear the siren.
I do agree that freo should have won. a mistake was made. i would however disagree if the result was reversed. not only as a st kilda supporter but as an afl supporter.
We need to keep that human elemnt in the game, mistakes will be made, hopefully not like this again but they will be made and will affect results of games.
