Maysie said:10.4.1 End Of Quater
The Timekeepers shall sound the siren to signal the end of a qrt until a field umpire acknowledges that the siren has been heard and brings play to an end
10.4.3 Signal
A field umpire shall signal that he or she has heard the siren by blowing a whistle and hold both arms above his or head.
There was no signal therefore the game was still playing
END OF STORY.
if freo really wanted to win they would have stopped us.
Androo said:As a neutral spectator at the game it was obvious that the siren went (even though I didn't hear it), players from BOTH teams reacted, freo players went up in jubilation while St. Kilda players dropped their heads.
In modern footy there is no way that Thomas didn't know how long was left, he should be gracious and accept defeat, saving the AFL the embarrasment of having to investigate (and do nothing because they would not want to blame their sacred but incompetent umpires.)
StKildonan said:Why would you suggest that Thomas is in any way responsible?
Every time he has tried to do things for the good of the game, he receives a backlash from the AFL (including some hefty personal fines).
The umpires are responsible for ending the match, not GT.
Geez.
I was at the game today. Can i say as a bulldog supporter I am certain that many people on the ground heard the siren and many people on the ground did not (freeo, stkilda umpires included). The issue in not about poor umpiring, the issue is about how the F&*k can the AFL allocate a game to a stadium that cannot meet the basic standards...........Don't blame the umpires for not hearing something that many others on the ground did not hear..........bluejay said:I still don't understnd why in a St.Kilda forum, there's a vast majority of other teams' fans posting. Why don't you go say all this in the main boards and leave us alone? As if it was our fault all the siren-dilema happened.
To the Richmond guy who says no umpire would leave alive from the stadium: you really are a disgrace to the human race. People like you are the ones who start wars, fights, bashings, etc... Do you really think that is how a person should behave? With fans like you, this game doesn't get anything positive at all. What are you going to do to someone who steals something from you? Cut his hand? Come on, we're on the 21st century. Grow up.
I can't comment anything about the siren as I haven't watched the game (just listened to the radio, and I couldn't hear the siren either nor the commentators could), but I want to watch it before stating my opinion.
