Funnier result would be us getting Butters after Houston last year. Kanes head might genuinely explodeReid is probably better suited to Mitchell's free willed, but follow the rules attitude. But I dont think we can get both.
Imagine if Rowell actually gets to the Pies as well.
Non Vic fans would go absolutely spare.

Providing they nail the picks from those trades. They’d be better off delisting all the dead wood and trying for some (way better) moneyball options. This is where they’ve had massive troubles though really. Newman and Hewett the only real hits recently. Acres for 5 minutes perhapsCarlton commits to a rebuild by trading out 3 (or more) of these players.
Curnow, McKay, Cripps, Cerra, Weitering and de Koning

Have a father son predicted to be at the end of the first round this year, and a father son top 3 next year. Getting in talent won't be the issue. Plus will have a reasonable amount of salary cap space if TDK goes, and Williams' deal runs out next year. Thats 1.7 mil+ in the cap ready to go. Plus if we trade one of them - McKay for arguments sake - we'll have an extra 8-900k in thereThey would need to get a few future picks as well, doesn't look like a good draft.
You could probably have a whole thread on Carlton, but with Tasmania coming in, this being a weak draft it will be a tough rebuild.

Ollie and Elijah Hollands both have scope to be A-graders. Walsh and Cerra are both 25. A grade talent also can come out of nowhere. How many Freo fans would have had Lachie Neale being one of the best of his generation, or Josh Treacy as a potential A-grader when they were drafted? It's about making the most of what you have, which is one of our issues currentlyHow much A grade talent do you have under 24?
Smith should be good.
Walker should be really good for you next year (hopefully)
-- Can't think of any more
While you have those players on your list, may as well try to add 3 or 4 more players around the same age.

We don't need to rebuild necessarily. Our stars are all 25-28 outside of Cripps and Hewett. Just need to refresh things a little bit. And that's what TDK and potentially Harry leaving allows us to do. Plus coaching needs a massive overhaul - it's what has held us back more than anything the last 12 monthsAgree.
We also traded away players like Neale, Brad Hill etc to kick start our rebuild, and then cut your list hard so that you can get players like Treacy.
He was drafted during the Covid year, and just was given no exposure. In any other year, he goes a lot higher.

Again, I think it's coaching, not talent that's holding us back. We have enough good players that we should be winning enough games to play finals every year as a base level - they have shown it in the past. We are also seeing Collingwood prove that coaching and experience makes more of a difference than just about anything. There's no reason at least 4 or 5 of those guys (Newman included) can play well into their 30's, especially in this era (and health pending). We have gaps in our list, absolutely, just like every club. But nothing that can't be fixed pretty swiftlyI thought McKay was older.
So it just your bottom 10 players in your 22 that holds you back, maybe you could pull off a collingwood mini reset if you drafted well.
Trade out McKay and de Koning and then see what you can do with the picks.
Smith, Weitering, Curnow, Cerra, Wlash (if you get him fit) is a good starting squad to build your list around.
I don't see the other players under 25 coming through you can put around them. Oli Hollands is solid, maybe Eli as well.
The issue is
Haynes, Saad, Acres, Cripps, Doherty, McGovern, Pittonet, Hewett, Fantasia, Williams are all 28 years or older (have not checked everyone's age - but from a quick look i am correct), but if you have 10 players in that age group, and you have poor depth it will be hard to improve your depth as these players will retire before they are replaced through the draft unless you draft exceptionally well.
You really need to nail 2 drafts in a row, to get your depth sorted.

Outside run and small forwards are glaring needs. Like you say though, target thse needs aggressively and it can turn. Lipinski, Bobby Hill, Schultz, Mitchell, Membrey etc have all helped our reset without the draftAgain, I think it's coaching, not talent that's holding us back. JUH to Melbourne
I agree with pretty much all of that (a part from the Motlop point). He’s kicked almost 25 goals in a season he missed a reasonable chunk of. Again, i think it’s largely a coaching issue. Adam Kingsley has pointed it out before that we defend with 16 players, which neuters our small forwards output, especially if we don’t win centre clearances.I don't think you have enough quick players with good skills.
Your spine is great, your inside mids are great. You don't have any good small forwards from what I can see (I don't rate Motlop), and you need another quick half back with elite skills to move the ball quickly.
You badly need a 40 goal small forward, a quick agile midfielder with elite kicking skills.
It will be interesting to see if a different coach will make a difference.
It could also be just a lack of fitness. Your first half is good but you can't run out games.
Absolutely. Experience and players that fit needs in the team, while also being well coached. Outside run and skills are certainly something that can be improved in our squadOutside run and small forwards are glaring needs. Like you say though, target thse needs aggressively and it can turn. Disagree - you have the added bonus of 2 future years of trading leading up to Tassie and also the clubs with bids to match will pay for matching picks given the reduction in picks carrying points. I think it will be fine and Trade radio will not be impacted. This is shaping up to be a stinker trade period. Clubs just don't want to bring in draft capital in this draft.
Think it will be the opposite. Tons of clubs have free salary cap space and tons of clubs want out of the draft. 2025 is the perfect time for that pick 45 for Henry Hustwaite style of trade deals to occur. This is shaping up to be a stinker trade period.
