that he failed to live up to, would look to me that the same benchmark is not applied liberally across the team ea week. I accept he aint the messiah, nonetheless he's a talent with a fair amount of upside and would learn a whole lot more playing in the seniors than bloody coburg, then again...

Agreed. Richie needed 2 games at coburg, Connors needed at least 2 games in the seniors. Reactionary stuff from the coaching staff :thumbsd:

I feel Connors deserves a fair few more games under his belt, atleast another 2 or 3 to see what he can do. He's only managed 9 games over the last 3 seasons (2007-2009) so really Richmond should have him play more games to see whether or not he's worth keeping for next year.

they need to stand on their feet and not be nurse maid at the expense of team performance. look at what its done to edwards and tambling.

I think you'll find he's been dropped due to his insipid effort just before 3/4 time when he could have gone back for the mark but pulled a heart string. It resulted in all the push and shove at 3/4 time and the Melbourne players really got into him.

possibly, perhaps they've learnt that ignoring a player that neglects to take on board the 1% hasn't worked:o

I think it's an ordinary decision unless he is carrying an injury. I bet Jon is in and out the next week. These younger players are just not given a go when it comes to this coach.

Poor Connors had to wait till round 16 to get a game last year and the world was a better place with him in the side.

I really feel sorry for him , Polo even Jon. Who do you have to root to get a decent go at this club. These decisions really make you wonder how the selection process is made. If Connors is fit he should be in the side.

I'm just glad Andy Collins has kept his spot. 20 touches and 2 goals and they were probably looking to send him back to the Burgers.

I wouldnt be surprised if his papers were stamped after that insipid marking attempt. What makes an effort all the more galling is that off the field he is such a supposed tough guy thug who can't stay out of a fight. Maybe he should play pissed.

typical Terry mate, did the same thing with the young pups - used to do it to Lindsay Gilbee, Boyd, Cross and the rest.

One week in, one week out - What a stupid way to develop our youth:rolleyes:

the club is ****ed, some kids get given a game every week by just showing up to training, others have to be used as "yo-yo's" for 6 years before they are given one whole month in the side to be judged, god this club annoys me!

yep agree with you here 1 game promotions for the young guys are a joke bad coaching bad selections
no wonder development is so bad at our club

He has to do his time on Wallaces merry-go-round:thumbsd:

I am no coach(far from it) but IMO the kid will only face more pressure next time he is selected. Pattison in this week out next for Simmonds, you wait and see:thumbsd:

I can't see a reason to keep Connors in the side.

If a young player is okay and looks to work into a game, keep him in the team by all means.

But Connors performance was insipid last Sunday, not just okay or "he worked into the game". He was insipid and it would have unjust to let him stay just because he's bizarrely highly rated on this forum. The kid has everything going for him to be a player and yet fails far too often when given a chance with stupid decisions or pure laziness.

Snap. And I was a massive fan too.

Agreed. A couple of times he went for one-handed marks when he had the time to make a better effort but didn't. Hopefully a lesson learnt and he will be better for it next time.

For a kid that supposedly slipped so far in the draft because of attitude I expected alot more, even if just to prove to the clubs that passed him over that he was a better prospect. If he could play with that attitude he would make lot of Tigers supporters happy.

dont know where you get this from dude, but i tend to look at who was part of a "unit" that had us sitting up and taking notice last year and who wasnt. He was. As for fails to often, i also think you are drawing a long bow there, since failing to often is something that a Tambling for instance, has done ad nauseum and continues to be given the "nessecary" opportunities to deliver on his potential. IMO, Connors has shown potential, Tambling's potential is purely driven by his selection in the draft.
I cant understand why a young player who was included for a game where more senior players failed is targetted as the fall guy. Its quite baffling to say the least. You got to give kids like this at least 3 games to assess their worth FFS TW. You selection of the team borders on a nonsensical throw of the dice each and every week. Again it seems you are marking time and making certain that you are sacked by the mid season break. How on earth can you expect a unit to gel with a game plan when the unit is constantly changed with insipid band aid one week ins, next week out. ;)

I wanted him to stay in, but I also can't argue with that. This kid is really hard to pin down. He was shocking last week yet I still would have liked to see him get another game!

if a proper selection process was followed connors would have earned his spot after a string of good preformances in the 2nds which would have earned him at least 2 games in the firsts the first to find his feet /pace of the game and the 2nd to find or do something,

i doubt the first part was followed and as a result what good has the game done for a young bloke who a few of us think has a real future (ask a few hawks supporters what they think of him after we beat them last year) when you select a young bloke you think he has what it takes and needs to be supported so he can get that confidence required and after you have had a good look at him (at least 2 games) send him back with a list of things to work on/

a tomahawk missile couldnt be more accurate than that cogg....there is no consistency to how this team is coached...quite right on tambling and edwards, both have had endless chances over and above what connors was granted...and WHY...oh yeah, coz he was drafted in top 20:confused:...hmm makes a whole lot of sense...sure Connors needs to learn some more but he'll do that at a faster rate in seniors...all we ask is that he be treated like a tambling, edwards , JR or sarge, that is carried for 50-100 games before he endures the selectors wroth:rolleyes:

Connors should be in the side this week in Brown's place. Put him on Brown's flank and watch him thrive.
Can't understand how you can put a kid in one week and then put him out.
Unfortunately we see Tambling come in at his expense.
Now that JON is in, I'd like him to stay there for at least a month. If he doesn't do anything, back to Coburg and then delist.
