It would be fair to say this is Simon Wiggins' last chance to keep his name on the Carlton Football Club list next year.

What does this tough, couregous man have to do against the Pies and the week after to keep in the side?

Lets be honest, you would have to be a true dud not to be getting a game with Carlton and Wiggins is well on the brink, he has been for some time.

Does he need to get 30 touches? Does he need to kick 3 goals? Or does he just continue to lay tackles and put his head over the ball?

What are we after from Simon Wiggins?

Would have to get a run with job now that McGrath is not in the team. One thing imo in his favour his that he can play in the midfield as a tagger or a defender.

Could possibly run with Licuria in the midfield, and perhaps rotate that role with AB, or play on Didak in the forward line.

As I have said on another Carlton thread, very surprised he got a game ahead of McGrath. As you say stokesy, must be his last chance at Carlton.

Deluca, Russell and Cory McGrath are the emergencies Deluca has been dropped Jordan Russell also been omitted,

The club and selectors have given up on Wiggins. He will be a "make-up" player until the end of the year and will be let go then. He has had plenty of opportunities to deliver and has not to date.

Do you realy think he is worth giving another chance or even keeping? I would love to see him get 30 touches or kick 3 goals but it's just not going to happen. He is simply not good enough.

The fact that he is on the side at all shows you where we are at.

I think with Wiggo, the lights are on but nobody's home.

He would not get a game in any other team in the competition. I would rather see anyone else on our list get a game before him.

Bring back Damian Lock, Heath Culpitt, Jordan Doering or Murray Vance before Wiggo!

I like the decision if it rains, which it's scheduled to do.

We need a hard nut more than a player of Russell's type this weekend. I like McGrath better, but Wiggins needed a chance some time this year.

If Wiggins isn't in our plans for next year, then he shouldn't be playing. It makes no sense. We're in a rebuilding phase at the moment, and yet, we're dropping kids that need experience.

Makes me wonder if we're serious about rebuilding, or if we're just trying to win at all costs.

Wiggins courage and attack on the ball is above question however his skills by foot and his footy smarts are just not there and that is why he never stays in the side for more than 2 or 3 weeks and although i would love to see someone with his courage come good i just don't think it will happen, he might play well this week in the wet but next week on a dry track he will struggle with his skills and positioning and chances are he will not be on the list next year.

They must have a good reason for selecting him after Russell seemed to be starting to find the footy a bit more. Still I don't see why Mcgrath was dropped in the first place so I would rather have him back in the team than Wiggo. But as OzBomb said, the conditions will suit him if it's wet so maybe now is the best time to give him a run if they're going to at all.

See Wiggins in a similar light to McGrath. They both have heaps of courage and passion but just lack a touch of class.

Corey is a little less likely to suffer from nerves but Wiggins is quicker. Both seem to lack in their disposal under pressure.

Overall would probably have Wiggins over McGrath as I think if Wiggins found self belief he would be the better player. At this stage probably neither is up to the mark for best 22.
