A work colleague is in possession of a Port home jumper from either 1997 or 1998. I think she won it at the time in a raffle. It is signed by John Cahill and Mark Williams plus 16 of the players including Gavin Wanganeen, Brendan Lade and Peter Burgoyne.

She's asked me whether I have any idea what it might be worth as she's interested in selling it. I've told her she should make some enquiries with a sporting memorabilia store but I'm wondering whether anyone can give me a ballpark figure.

I realise it's not a full set of autographs and also that she doesn't know which year it dates from (I'm wondering whether the price may have altered between 97 and 98 which would provide the exact year as the price tag is still attached).

Thoughts anyone?

Im not good at picking prices, but id say minimum $500.

If it has both our coaches and the three captains weve had then it should be worth a fair bit more.

But then again, its not part of the real kit. Its a sekem guernsey, not a nike one. So yeah dunno.

It really depends on who gets to see it as like Macca19 says it's not a genuine match day jumper and in addition to that it doesn't come with a COA from the club so it's just like any other store bought jumper that someone got the signatures on.

Who was raffling it as it would appear not to be the club given it's brand and normally it would come with a COA or something else detailing some history of how it came into existance ??

1997 would be worth more being it's the first season but then not having the a full team/squad lessens it as well.

As for a value it also depends on how/where you sell it and then who knows of it and who wants it.............a framed authentic 2004 long sleeve jumper with the GF patch signed by all 22 Power premiership players with a plaque sold for $2551 on eBay today.

I have an authentic 1997 Gav worn long sleeve match day jumper signed by him on the front and the rest of the side on the back which is valued around $1000 and possibly a lot more to the right person (not that I would ever contemplate selling it like all of my footy momentos/souvenirs - the favourites being a plastic footy signed by our 1979 and 1980 premiership team players and a 2004 GF record with each of our players/coaches signing their pics in the middle).

At a guess I'd say between $300 and $500 but it really comes down to knowing more about it and what interest it has from potential buyers as the more interest the higher the bids will go.

Thanks for that guys. I've passed your august opinions on to my colleague.

On the same topic, I have a blockmount of the original team - not signed unfortuantly, any idea on a price realise it won't be that much but just more curosity more than anything....

First if your friend goes to an autograph store like the ones at Marion & ask them what they think it's worth then you can immediately add another $50+ as stores like that try to buy stuff off people really cheap then sell it for a mint.

If it doesn't have a COA, then the value isn't as high as what it would be worth with one. Another thing when getting stuff signed if you don't get/have a COA you should take pictures of the players signing the jumper as then you can show any potential buyers that the signatures are real (hey some people sell dodgy ones on ebay) & i'm not saying that you or your friend are.

If she's interested in selling then i might be interested ... depends on how much she wants for it, but then again you can always put it on ebay.
