I'm proud of our team. I know everyone expected us to be challenging for the flag at the beginning of the year, but I didn't.

Especially with the amount of young and developing talent we have coming through, whatever* happens tonight, I will be proud; and it won't be another season wasted.

*May change my mind if we put up a 2003 Grand Final-esque performance. Most disappointing day ever.

If we lose tonight, we have broken even in my book. Most would have expected us to finish top 4, and we did - finishing the AFL season in fourth.

IF we win tonight, we have exceeded expectations. And then if we win next week, well, that would be very very special.

Honestly, I only expected us to be making up the numbers in this year's finals series before the season began. Reaching the Prelim has axceeded my expectations. I fully expect us to be contenders over the next three years, though, and nothing short of a premiership will be successful during that time, in my opinion.

Yup..anything from here on is a bonus..

There would be no shame in losing to Geelong and St. Kilda - if one of them do win - they would be deserving...We would feel robbed if we didnt win the premiership after a year like the saints and years like geelong...

Having said that - if we beat them on the day - cant say we dont deserve it :)

Come what may - caaaaaarn the piiies !!

We've had a pretty tough run to date and if we win it, no-one can say we didn't deserve it. Dogs, Saints, Crows, Cats and Saints? 8 straight quarters of man-on-man contested footy? If one group can do it it's a bunch of boys who don't know any better. Either way, earlier in the year it generally felt like this was going to be a bit of a limbo/development year and right now we're one song away from the big dance - I'm pretty stoked with how it's panning out and whether we go out tonight or next week, I'll be cheering the boys at the end as though they'd won the big one - they deserve it :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm proud of how far we have come, but it will make this season just another "average" season if we lose tonight.

Coming in to this season, I firmly believed we would finish top 4, which means as a one eyed supporter you expect to make the Grand Final from there.

Either way, I will be proud, but I believe we have an opportunity here to win a premiership, and that we should not waste it.

There are no "great teams" like Brisbane of 02,03 or Geelong of 07 to run into this time, there is only the remnants of that 07 side, and a Stkilda side that squeezes the life out of football and it's opponent.

We are a realistic chance for the flag, and we should not waste that chance.

P.S. This is not a shot a Malthouse, Eddie or the club, I just want us to bloody win.:o

I will be shattered if we lose tonight but not as shattered as I would be if iI followed Geelong. Yes we will be better in the next 5 years and could/should win at least one over that period but we have a chance this year too. Geelong need to win this year or they have missed a great chance while they have a great side. We have time on our hands with all the young players we have in our side but who knows what next years brings.

Like in 2007 we have a chance to steal one and being a 30 year old Collingwood supporter i have only seen one winning flag and i want more. Who knows what could happen next week if we get through. The Saints are the best side of the year but that doesn't mean anything if you dont win the big one. It will be hard to beat them and Geelong tonight but lets not be happy because we think the future is going to be good. LETS TAKE OUR CHANCES NOW.

I love Collingwood.

Trust me the boys won't be happy with a loss tonight, and anything but a win will be a failure.

So from a fans point of veiw a prelim might be acceptable, but inside the club i seriously doubt that would be the case.

Right on. How quickly people forget we were equal favorites for the premiership this year. We've probably gotten further than people might've expected at the start, but we're here and we have a shot, so forget about 'exceeding expectations' and looking to next year, lets win the bloody thing this year!

Go Pies! :D

On the Premiership clock this is exactly where I thought we would be this year.
No matter what happens tonight we will be a better team next year

Ludicrous on both counts, St Kilda are obviously one of the great teams of the modern era.. they won 19 games in a row and only took their foot off the pedal to freshen up for the finals, could have easily gone into the Grand Final unbeaten.. believe me there have been far easier years to win a flag than this one with a super team like the Saints and an equally awesome super team like Geelong still around.. even the Dogs and Crows are just about the best 3rd and 5th best teams I've ever seen in a season

As for just another average season we are playing 12 players 22yrs and under tonight (Geelong only 3, St Kilda only 1)

We have blooded future superstars in Sidebottom and Beams as well as 3 rising star nominated players

Built a more attacking game plan that stands up to finals pressure and won one of the great comeback finals off all time

All of this after a 5 - 3 start due to the entire forwardline being injured for the first two months

Yeah just another average season
