Whats wrong with Suma?

I am not say he should be our coach next year.
Some people here have said that if Sumich was given the head job, that they would hand in their membership.

What has Sumich done apart from being associated with the scum, that makes some people that concerned with having him at our club.

Was involved in a fairly serious personal dispute with a relative of mine. Can't speak for anyone else, but he apparently pissed off a lot of people whilst he was coaching Sowfs.

I'd continue to support Freo if they named him coach, but there's no way I'd be giving them any of my money for them to pay that scumbag.

There isn't an irrational hatred of Suma on this board, just wariness at the knee-jerk response of "get someone from Freo, that's what Freo need" and then when you do, you're languishing in the wilderness again for ten years with a mediocre coach but, hey, who cares? he's from fREO!

And some of the WA commentators who are saying get Suma because of the local connection were quite happy to have Vic Malthouse take the Eagles to two flags.

I want a coach that will get a premiership and who loves Freo, even if he's from Mars. Some of the biggest baggers of our team have been ex-Freo footy people with sour grapes.

Oh, and Sumich isn't very clever.

Sumavich seems to have the minimum going for him as potential "next" coach. There is no compelling reason to choose him. I would prefer to keep Connolly, by a long way.

People believe CC plays his favourites wait until you see Suma coaching. The guy was responsible for driving off quite a few young up and coming players from South due to him only concentrating on a select few. One south player said he would rather be coached by Northey again and that's saying something.

That and the MOB want him and they have never had a good idea in their life

I've heard similar comments to Cam's from people close to Eagles players.

There's been a few decent WAFL coaches that have gone on to be AFL duds. Gieschen, Judge, Todd. Are there any who have gone on to be successes?

Jacko and Suma are Eagles through and through all the good freo culture has been sanitisied out of them.

There's a lot to be read into the fact that Sumich's biggest backers are either the ex-Souths types that have constantly white-anted the club out of spite or ex-eagles.

George, Hardie and co. don't want a decent coach, they just want to get one of their boys a plush job. Would rather we promoted Harvey.

i don't get it.......whoever gets the job will have to leave all their allegiances behind to succeed at their new club....are you suggesting that he is trying to get the job to sabotage the club? makes no sense to me

i guess that is an opinion ? or is it fact.. my point being is that when you are a journalist/commentator/reporter/radio person you opinion and demeanor would be different to that of a head coach... it is the same for any person at any new/different club that you were affiliated to

Well, CC is a Vic but is genuinely passionate about Freo and is very repectful of it's heritage - not like some who would like it to become an Eagles Reserves Side.
Appoint Suma and watch the dark clouds gather and the close, supportive culture that exists within there at the moment, dissolve into a can of worms.

Schamm, 211, Johnson and the rest didn't re-sign thinking that Dumb and Dumber would be coaching next year (Slappo and Summo).

For about the 100th time. The most important coach the toast have that would get us further than Sumich is Tony Micale.

He, I would have.

He is the reason the toast do so good. (IIRC) He was the first assistant Johny signed up when got his job.
FFC should have good long look at him.

As for Sumich.... I've never seen, heard or read any glowing opinions of him from unbiased sources.

They are talking about Scott Watters to join Jacko as an assistant coach. Neither of them have been assistant coaches at an AFL level. So how much experience could they bring to our club?

Tony Micale is a gun. If there wasn't a question mark over his age, I've got no idea how old he is. But he would be a great head coach. The way he ruled the roost down at East Perth was brilliant (granted he had great players at his disposal). I'd love to see him down at freo.

Gotta agree with Dom here. It was Slappo that let the Bombres spies into our closed session before the 2003 EF.

And Suma had all the Dockers reserves when We were alighned to Sowf's , but still defered and let the WC reserves win the flag.

Surely after spending their entire adult lives as weagles, they are more weagle than Freo? Or don't the weagles have any culture for them to cling to?

This 'Freo' carp is just that. I don't live in Freo, I don't come from Freo, but hell, I've followed this club through all sorts of garbage for the past 13 years - is Toddy going to tell me that Sumich is more 'Freo' than me?
