Disagree with no set no bet. You need to look at each hand indepently, whether your in a cash game or tourny/SnG etc... But if you have thinned the field to say, two players, you flop a gutshot straight draw on an 8 high rainbow board there is no reason not to bet if checked to you. But if you do play a pure set mining strategy, never raising even in late position in an unopened pot then yeah, not set no bet since the pots will usually be multi way and almost certainly someone will flop something like a top pair weak kicker that will check call all the way or some kind of draw, or even chase with overcards...

Sorry, should have clarified. My advice was for the OP who is clearly still learning the game. Calling with 66 on a 9JQ9 board, he is really just guessing. Even if the guy pushes with AK, AT or A8 (and that would be very likely the best case scenario for the OP) he has at least 16 outs with one card to come (actually 19 if he has AT). Remember the OP hasn't got the option of raising as his opponent is all in so he has no fold equity either. Calling with 66 in this spot is a moron play any way that you want to evaluate the hand. Like I said, if the guy is bluffing regularly then he needs to wait for a better spot for this very important reason:

He does not want to discourage this guy from bluffing again. If he calls with 66 whether he wins or loses he demonstrates that he is a calling station and discourages the guy from bluffing again when it might be an even more profitable call (or preferable raise) later on. If he waits for a better spot and gets into a situation where he can raise then his opponent gives him more respect. In turn the OP can then start to pick off these bluffs pretty easily as his opponent will give him credit for having a hand.

Im not arguing the fact that 66 is an insta muck in this spot...

Just playing low to mid pairs in general.

Really, its just a bad spot in general, and low pairs arent the kind of hands to get back at a serial bluffer, because so often you will find a spot like this where you must forfeit the hand...
