Perhaps his greatest legacy was his "hands free" coaching in the last round of 2007 that netted us Cotchin.

My vague memory is that Hardwick put the broom through when he came in and cut the list pretty deeply, even though it meant drafting a bunch of players with very late picks to fill those spots. Didn't seem like he thought much of the state of the list.
The minute Wallace was gone, kids were promoted and Richmond had its youngest winning team in 40 years.
Wallace would be justifiably proud of the premiership players who got their start under him - Edwards, Riewoldt, Cotchin and Rance. But the fact is that Richmond were on a road to nowhere under his coaching and had to begin from ground zero after he was replaced.

Tigers don't tank.Nice euphemism for "tanking"
Bullshit.Champion footballer. Average coach. Truly shit list manager.
Also have to wonder about the legacy of a guy who had a heap of good draft picks yet none of them started to shine for about a decade...
That is because you have no idea. Wallace was the ultimate team player who gave his all for his team mates and club. There is no over inflated opinion of himself, he is as down to earth as what you can get. Your opinion is a shit one mate.I remember watching Wallace play for camberwell thinking he was a busted arse player who hung around a little too long, he gave the impression of an over inflated opinion of himself.... is more important than the team.
Thought the same thing in his last two years as coach.
Think the same thing now.
What about Thomas from Pt Adelaide - he was no kid - he was slow a battler - and Hardwick loved him and gave him plenty of games - Taylor Hunt another in that category and probably others
Yeah it's not a great opinion of him..ok maybe my view is a little tied up in the disappointment of his time at Richmond. That is because you have no idea. Terry was always honest and open that he felt conflicted in those sorts of situations though, that's how you know, clubs getting up systematic tanking didn't talk openly about it.
There are laws against inciting a riot...Yep. Set up a flag for the dogs and did the same for the tigers.
A delayed reaction, sure. But he put the building blocks in place for both and deserves full credit.
It was more what you said about him having an inflated opinion of himself. Have met the man a few times and he does not appear to be self centered, struck him as being a very genuine, humble man. As a footballer got the absolute best out of himself. Not quite sure about how good of a coach he was at Richmond, seemed to get the best out of the players at the dogs, they just were not good enough. Saw Terry at the national a draft camp in Canberra in 2005 I think. Went with a group of indigenous students from remote East Kimberley communities. Wallace remembered me from a previous time and went out of his way to talk to the boys and make them feel welcome, as did Chris Connolly.Yeah it's not a great opinion of him..ok maybe my view is a little tied up in the disappointment of his time at Richmond.
If he is as you say then good onya for sayin it.
But Terror Wallace did a shit load of damage to our club by not developing the team and instead trying to develop his own brand, self promotion and trying to get a name for himself with a crap, cowardly basketball style game plan that in the end forced the AFL to change the rules with rushed behinds because of what was happening.
Could go on for ages about draft choices
Franklin, Callum Ward etc
What he didn't do in
2005
2007
2008
That damaged us for years and it's my view he was more interested in his own brand and record than the club
