When Should We Play Qualifying Final?

Hawks only 0.2 percent behind Pies. Say pies win by 20, Gawks win by 35-40, their positions will change. Probably even less than those margins

Why Thursday, Tugga?

Past couple of years the AFL has preferred interstate finals for the Thursday night, so I'd expect the Eagles to host the Thursday Night game.

And then we play Friday night.

I think out of Collingwood, Sydney and Hawthorn, Hawthorn would cause us the least grief. Good team but they don't handle small forwards well.

To play Collingwood in the Qualifying final it would require Pies winning by less than 18 and Hawks winning by more than 18.

That’s a ghastly thought. Definitely best to choose ‘Best Available’ for that ticket sale and no stuffing around trying to get seats in your preferred area of the ground if the matchup does eventuate.

Collingwood could tank against freo giving them a MCG qf against us or a MCG elimination against 8th. They might prefer this than going to Perth first week. Can’t see it happening though. Hawks v Sydney is the key match. At this point you’d think it would be Sydney as favourites leaving a Rich v Syd qf. It will be a Thursday night game. Just hope that cheat Chamberlain isn’t in charge after what he did to us the last time we played them.

Whether you like the bloke or not Buckley is most definitely not the type to play with form leading into finals. He’s like Dimma in that respect. Collingwood will go into next weeks game fully intending to beat Fremantle and beat them well.

I like Bucks. He showed good humour and class last year when he was under massive pressure. Unlike a lot of their supporters he is a good winner and loser. I think your right about them wanting to win as well.

I'm almost certain our first final won't be Thursday night. Sure, the 1st v 4th QF was on Thursday last year, but the year before it was the 6th v 7th EF. It's an SA/WA thing, not a 1st thing.

Same. have booked flights that get me in Friday so would be a touch unhappy if we were scheduled Thursday - am trying to remember where I read it but thought this series was going to be Fri Sat Sun, however the fixture still says Sept 6 - 9.

For the traveling team's sake, I would expect a Thursday game in Perth. Loser gets an extra day to allow for the travel. Tiges at home won't need the extra day, which leaves Syd and GWS with potential travel considerations. Traditional Saturday afternoon would be perfect!

As much as I hang shit on Nothin Buckley I’ve had the opportunity to meet him on three occasions at Coburg and I must say he’s a lovely bloke. The time he gives to supporters and non is amazing at grass roots level and above and beyond any other coach.
I’ve seen him do a lap around City Oval for three consecutive years where he would spend a few minutes speaking to fans as he covered the circumference of the ground. He’s a serious people’s man and like KDH just needed better support around him.

I actually think Lions are a shot and IMO should be favourites.
If Eagles are without Kennedy and Darling along with Gaff and NicNat i give Lions a more than a better chance
