Just wanted to gauge how everyone feels about the impending retirements of hodge, Mitch, gibbo, Burgoyne ... That's a lot of talent to lose potentially at seasons end 2017.Who will you miss the most? Part of me hopes Sam can keep going boomer style but it's probably unlikely.I'd miss him the most but it's so hard to pick... So much talent...
Do we farewell them in that last game with heavy hearts or do we celebrate the greatness and that hope clarko's "got this".... I for one will miss Sam the most, hodge a close second.Lets just kick ass in 2017, life is short!

I will miss them all but I will miss Sammy and Hodge the most due to the 1 club player situation.

Yup agreed, Sammy and Hodgey are special. I love Silk to, he is probably the most talented out of them all as far as skill and athletic ability. Gibbo has done extremely well coming to our club but I'm more meh about him than the other 3.

I'll miss Burgoyne the most, but I can see it's the end for him.
I'm more worried they will play horribly and it will become that they played on a year to long, especially with Hodge.
I'm disappointed that not one of them retired this year, as it means there will be a big change at the end of next year.

Will miss Sam Mitchell most. Watching him in traffic is special. Hodgey second. His toughness is amazing. I think sam will play on in 2018. If he has half the year next year as this one he should play one.
Hodgey and silk to retire next year. Gibbo year after and Mitchell year after that

When the Champs Retire

Cold Chisel
Lyrics

Ain't nobody gonna make us cheer this way
Ain't nobody gonna make us cheer this way

When the champs retire
Burgoyne's class can't be replaced
Mitchell racking up 30, Gibbo spoiling
Another attack away
Hodgey at full steam with a hip and shoulder
Still such guns but somehow so much older
How can I go to the G and not get
Blown away

You and I had our sights set
On glory
Hope this doesn't mean our days are numbered
We got plans to get Titch and O'Meara
All around this trading and madness
Can't help feeling nothing more than sadness
Only choice to face it the best I can

When the champs retire
Got to rebuild again
Try to hold a trace of what it was
Back then
You four will be spoken about in stories
Just a page of Hawthorn's history in all its glory
How can I go to the G and not get blown away

Ain't nobody gonna make us cheer this way
Ain't nobody gonna make us cheer this way
Ain't nobody gonna make us cheer this way
Ain't nobody gonna make us cheer this way

Love Sammy's ability to make it look like he's playing in slow motion (while the opposition are running AROUND him instead of directly AT him at normal speed), he makes it look so easy.

Don't want to play favourites, will miss them all. I may as well play favourites for a moment, I'll miss Hodgey for his epic leadership and toughness.

The thought of not getting the chance to farewell Sammy properly - being chaired off the field in a Hawks jumper with us all weeping - well it makes me want to weep even worse
