If we can have a whole list to choose from for the majority of the year, next year could be our year. Could be Lloyd's and Fletcher's last seasons, so might be a bit of extra determination there as well.

Reason being neagle and gumby will have 4-5 years in the system, hurley completes the spine nicely. If we dont go tall and complete the spine it could be a while, as we continue too pick up B-grade mids. We need an A-grade mid the year after aswell

No not the Grand Final, just have a spot in the top 8 and have a slim chance getting through to the Grand Final if we have no injuries at all, which is very rare.

its going to be a long haul, i said 2011 but even that is optimistic. Look at richmond who havent challenged for the past 5 years and still look another 2-3 years away. If all our youngsters develop well and we find a gem midfielder then possibly 2011. Reckon our forward line looks reasonable with neagle, gumby. Our ruck stocks are okay but our defence and our mids are a worry

Recruiting has come along way in recent years, with a clubs first pick you know your going to get a servicable at worst player. What im implying is even if he is just servicable, he still holds down a key position, making our spine steady and allowing us too create a team around it.

Main point is it creates a structure too build a successful team around.

There are plenty of players taken first round that are not serviceable and serviceable isn't going to cut it or let you build a team around them, especially at FB.

I understand you point about structure but your original point about not picking Hurley was pretty silly.

2008 - Get games into the kids, most were injured.
2009 - Get games into the kids, and hope for the least possible injurys and play finals if lucky.
2010 - Top 8
2011 - Top 4
2012 - Hopefully a grand final appearance.

It might take 2009 and 2010 to get as much games to the kids as possible since 2008 went all wrong, which would mean 2011 - Top 8, 2012 - Top 4 and a Grand Final Appearance 2013.

If we get our kids right in the off-season, we could give them some game time in the NAB Cup, then they should be hunky dory for the rest of the season. Assuming Courtney Dempsey drinks his milk

Unless a 'baby bombers' year comes out of nowhere in 09-10, I think 2011 is very realistic. Will need to cover for losses of Fletcher(Ryder/Lee) , Lloyd (Neagle), Lucas (Gumby) by then though but I think it can happen.

2011 - Our kids like, Reimers, Lonergan, Houli, Myers, Pears, and co should have 60-80 games under their belts and guy like Watson, Stanton and Monfries well over 100. Top 4 and some chance.

Just wanna get your thoughts on Adam Mcphee.....have you noticed that each game he's played for our club he does some very smart things on the field....and he also makes some poor decisions like giving stupid free kicks away, hanging on to the opponent, marking errors, kicking errors etc etc.. weird footballer don't know what to think about him, who else is with me?
