As a supporter I was really lifted by the 2 games previous to the Brisbane game. We didn't win and might have faded a bit but we played positive footy for the most part. Last night we tried really hard but the freedom of spirit from previous weeks was missing.

Some players had it, especially Blackwell and Simpson but the majority returned to nervous over analysing footy. I also think Denis started the ball rolling by not starting Setanta and putting Lance at FB. I feel that Setanta's selection was a positive move at this time of the year and that he should have been given a whole game. It also is enormously defensive to have Lance on the last line.

I truly believe that our biggest issue is not our list but our heads. When we play attacking footy we are a far better side. Last night we were back to chipping around and flooding and imo it killed the instictive ability of the players. By the last quarter when Lance was moved forward the freedom was already gone from the players minds.

Last night's game was there to be won. Brisbane were down on their spark and it was all set up for Carlton to take the initiative. However Denis went back to his defensive mind set of survival and the players in general followed his lead.

Well there is the answer to your question. The passion went when Pagan turned defensive.

The 2 goals Carlton kicked in the 2nd quarter to respond to Brisbane's 2 goals was the perfect example of attacking footy. They came quickly because of attacking footy, not this defensive crap that Pagan has played for most of the first half of the year.

I thought the man finally realised this against West Coast but obviously not.

FRUSTRATING!!!
