Where does your loyalty lie?

Im interested in finding out if the fans who adopted the crows from their SANFL teams back in 91 have developed the same loyalty to their club that the other AFL teams seem to get from their supporters.

My question is, if your SANFL team was granted an AFL license next year, to who would your loyalties lie? Would it be to the Redlegs, double blues or Centrals? Or is it to the Mighty Adelaide Crows?

I cant see myself baracking for any team other than the Crows, but then again i was brought up in an era of a dominant AFL, and my memory doesnt stretch past the early days of our team.

I remember the eighties and I have followed Adelaide since inception, will follow Adelaide and Adelaide only until I die.

Glenelg, no question. I grew up at Glenelg oval. The Bays are in my blood.

Im a Crows supporter first and a Panther supporter second...even if South Adelaide were granted a licence with all the sweeteners; so my loyalties lie with Adelaide.

Have you ever wondered about the significance of the N...
WAFL
SANFL
VFL

Did we and only we have the nati:)nal interest at heart?

It's no big deal, nowadays it would be the SAAFL.
National code back then, Australian "code" nowadays.

The one problem with the creation of the AFC was that it coincided with the Woodville-West Torrens merger (granted, the timing was forced upon us). I gained one team (Adelaide) and lost another (Woodville).

I never had a chance to really build any affection for the new Eagles, as the Crows became my focus. As such, I follow the Eagles very, very loosely. Were the mighty Warriors still around, I'd follow the SANFL far more closely.
Adelaide instantly became my footy focus.

And will always be.

I was only over a casual SANFL supporter (Glenelg), this was due to me being in high school when the AFC started and not really being able to go to their games, I have been going since 1991 with my family and have missed maybe 15 or so matches at AAMI (Football Park) since they have been in the AFL. I couldnt ever support or see myself supporting another side. I am Adelaide through and through.

Okay but where does your loyalties lie?;)

Never had a SANFL side, although for different reasons I'm interested in the Eagles and Roosters a little bit.

Funny how the first category is filled with Port fans who voted that they'd stop supporting the Crows and support their SANFL team if they ever get to join the AFL. I guess they'll have to continue supporting the Crows until that happens, or until they learn to read. ;)

I was brought up in an AFL dominating era too, but my old man quickly drilled into me that North Adelaide is the only team. I would hate to see North in the AFL personally, as the AFL is a :D:D:D:Ding joke.

For me its:

1. North Adelaide

2. Daylight

3. Daylight saving

4. Adelaide Crows

AFC 1st and for most, Glenelg love them to death and am a loyal 'Tiger' man:thumbsu: but would come 2nd to the AFC.

Didnt realise there are so many 'Bays' supporters amoungst us.

As a passionate Panthers man and having played juniors there, I would be a bit split, but after this much time I don't think I could walk away from the Crows regardless. The Crows have given me the success that I craved from the Panthers and the Panthers gave me the toughest initiation to playing and supporting a club that you could possibly get. Both are very important as I am certainly not fickle as a supporter and feel truly blessed to have been able to attend both grand finals and walk away on the right side. I love my Panthers, but the Crows have my AFL loyalty pretty much stitched up. Only thing that could change my mind is if Mark williams was appointed coach...:D

as a Panthers supporter since 1958 i can only reiterate the above sentiments - so its Crows 1st and South 2nd

PS given the lowly stature of the Panthers, there appears to be a relatively disproportionately high number of South supporters on this board

Add me to that list.

and me too

If the AFL ever gave a licence to South Adelaide I would know that they had definitely lost the plot!

South is my first footy love and they taught me how to lose gracefully but in the AFL it's the crows who have taught me all about winning - I like them better for that :D

I reckon of all the remaining SANFL clubs South and West were the only ones I didn't mind.

Now it could well be argued it's because they were never much of a threat bar West's stellar season in 1991 when I hoped like hell North would get rolled - or in South's case were largely homeless and harboured little ambition bar a few night Grand Final wins, but I reckon it's more to do with the supporters.

I've yet to meet a bad one from either club, whereas those - not all, mind - from other clubs can and have been absolute douchebags (Port included).
