I've been thinking about this the last few weeks and frankly I don't have any solid leads. Robbie just hasn't looked himself for the season so far. I didn't want to jump to conclusions based on 1 or 2 games. That's why I've waited a little before putting this out there. Last year there were games where he really seemed to grit his teeth and have a RHG, but I haven't seen any of that this season or maybe I'm not looking hard enough. He almost looks down and out. Is it confidence ? Is he on the outer ? was he flagged for trade last year ? Can anyone shead some light ?

Nothing more than a hunch but I think it may be this.

Pretty hard to look like anything in the midst of chaos when coming on as a sub dude...but I understand where you are coming from..if he is sulking then the brains trust have to work it out, one way or the other...there is no use having a player in the 22 that aint 100% on the job..

Has me baffled why they havnt played him as our No.1 small forward from the start.
He tops all the goal/tackle stats for the small forwards...
Attitude?
Maybe they just like the little macsot King in the side, (everyone plays better when he's in the side supposedly) regardless of his lack of output...

Nearly every side has two genuine small forwards if not three.
I'm still a little confused as to why we are playing with one genuine small forward. I think we are a much more damaging side with King, Nahas and SEdwards in the same side and in the forward line.

SEdwards has barely played there all year and Nahas has played two quarters for the year, where he spent the majority of time floating around the wing.

He needs to suck it up. Where his right now is on the precipice of falling completely off the radar and out of the system by seasons end.
He looks a little forlorn about donning the vest but if that's his lot right now so be it.
It's up to him to take every chance he gets with both hands.
Players like him come and go at all clubs all the time so he has to find ways to improve.
It's only round 6 and chances will come. He needs to take them.

Raises a valid point IMO.... re. who is kicking our goals?
Last year after Jack, next best two were Nahas with 34 & SEdwards with 29. (Most after round 8 when moved forward more)
This year it is Vickery and McGuane who follow Jack. Nothing wrong with other talls getting more goals but we do seem to be getting less out of our small forwards/goal sneaks.
Knights has picked it up a little but this scenario is a bit of a worry IMO.

Your smaller forwards generally get the cheaper & easier goals.... big guys usually have to grab a mark in a pack or on a hard lead etc...

Just my thoughts....

I reckon he is pissed that pettard was pretty much gifted a starting spot pushing newman up the ground to take Robbie's position. Pettard didn't deserve to walk straight into to team and Newman didnt deserve the forward spot. If he wasn't good enough in the back line then drop him. Don't just move him around to find a spot.

Both pettard and Newman as a forward have been failures.

I think it is a joke that Robbie didn't start the first game of the season. All this didnt perform in preseason is ridiculous if you ask me.

Barring injury we should have started with out final 22 from last year and new players should have to force their way into the side.

Its obvious that the coaching staff seem to favour new signings and this isnt a good thing for team morale.

I tell you what then he will mighty pissed if Petterd gets a crack as a forward then because when it comes to kicking a goal from outside 30 metres, marking and tackling Petterd leaves him in the shade.

Robbie Nahas is not the player that we should be looking at as a long term player, He has so many things that cant be improved or fixed after your 25 yo - Trade him & Move on

If Nahas is so bad and a lost cause re. improvement why would GWS want him?
I didnt say he is a lost cause.. Just what I have heard..
I like Nahas, reckon he offers a bit..

Certainly fell out of favour over the pre-season. It's hard to judge him on two games as subs, seems to have been ok at Coburg.

Ive been pretty dissapointed with Robbies effort so far this year. In the games hes come on as the sub he SHOULD be absolutely buzzing but has come out flat. I understand hes prob dissapointed at game time but the only way hes going to change that is by doing the team things and being that spark. Ellis did it aswell as you could coming out positively trying to help them team.

Long term i dont think Robbie is the answer. We are forced into playing Edwards in the middle a bit more without Foley, Tuck and Conca and should allow him to play that small forward role a bit more when they are back.

I reckon he is pissed that pettard was pretty much gifted a starting spot pushing newman up the ground to take Robbie's position.

Add to that the fact that half-game players are getting more game time while he sits and ticks with the sub vest on and yes, you can see plenty of cause for frustration.

Perhaps he's already found a place elsewhere or is actively looking because of a lack of opportunities? He's certainly playing like it. When lacking 100% desperation for the contest, he becomes sub-AFL level.

Its obvious that the coaching staff seem to favour new signings and this isnt a good thing for team morale.

They certainly have and do play favourites and they're not at all shy to jeopardise team performance in doing so.

If Robbie isn't the answer than surely King is in the same bracket. Can't judge him on two sub games so to be fair we are still yet to see him this year. Give him a full game, give pettard the boot he's not fit to shine Cotch's boots and put ****ing Newman down back where he belongs...

Had two of the clubs insiders regarding lists and player selection at the pre-game on Friday. Team structure is such that there are only two true small forward spots available (three talss and resting mid the other four) as such Robbie is fighting with Sheds and King for his spot.

For me - both tackle better and are not thrown off the ball with ease (anymore in the case of Sheds). King offers far far more in the way of leadership than Robbie while not quite his equal in opportunist goals. Sheds is every bit his equal as an opportunist and even to me has more in the leadership front and miles ahead in attitude.

On top of that the guy he subbed for on Friday, Helbig, who is much younger and has much more upside due to age and experience differential equaled him for output versus game time, with helbig being on at the same time as the opposition were fresh not 2/3 of a game worn out.

Pretty obvious why he is struggling to get a game.

From what's been said by some of other tiger players, Robbie is a very nervous- insecure type who lacks confidence.
Starting as a sub doesn't help- he definitely ain't a sub ( I'd prefer White as sub).
Robbie needs to start the game on the ground up forward where he has played his best footy...he has the skill but it seems he has lost his mojo

Also, doubt he has a contract elsewhere- if he did and the lub knew, he would b parked in the Coburg 2s

Just break out games in the reserves like everyone else then he can get noticed and demand to be selected.

It is not like they seem to be bashing the door down. What would happen in a GF???

Ship up or ship out like everybody else!!!!

People getting special treatment will not earn respect amongst the group anyway and then you will have disharmony in the group!!
