Each day i log onto the trade tracker expecting to see weve signed ball or jolly or someone but still nothing, just wondering whether we will have to wait until friday before any deal is done?

Hopefully some action today. What a week to have off work..BORING BORING BORING!

Generally speaking, we should all operate under the assumption that no trades will be finalised before Friday at 2pm.

If they get done early, fine.

Don't expect them before the end of the week.

Correct me if wrong but I thought I read somewhere last year that during trade week the clubs only gather as one at Etihad on Monday and Friday of trade week.

The days in between clubs must phone or visit each other.

Is this correct?

Yup...they phone a friend at other clubs during the middle of the week.

At the moment, Collingwood is trying to convince the Swans that it is seriously considering using its first round to pick up Ball and not worry about Jolly. The Swans to trying to get rumours going that it is going to trade Jolly elsewhere...

Personally, I think Magpies hold the cards because the Swans need the first round pick for Fev and have already got another ruckman in Seaby.

It might be a question of who blinks first at 1.45pm on Friday.

We're already involved and are doing a lot of posturing with the draft picks we're putting on the table.

Getting involved in the way you want it to happen is the pushing through of trades, which may never happen. The more I think about it, the more I consider this to be the most likely scenario.

This is like a game of 500 (I seem to keep using table game analogies to describe this!), everyone's making bids and we haven't quite decided yet if we're going to play an open misere or not and go all out. Like 500, you only do so if the hand is right. I don't think we'll reach that point.

FWIW I think Collingwood are playing a very smart trade week. They are not looking desperate for Jolly and decreasing any upperhand Sydney have because of Jolly's contract. On the other hand there are a few reports that Carlton and Sydney are in talks for that pick #14 which they don't have yet. So in a deal which Collingwood have zero upper hand in they are starting to get a little leverage in their direction.

The only trades completed so far have been for virtual "no names" or players who were told or told their club they were leaving weeks ago.

Fevola, Ball and Jolly only appeared as trade targets in the last week, where as a Gibson or a Lovett would have been involved in discussions for weeks.

It seems that the Jolly deal is still the most likely to go through first, although if Sydney continuously ask for too much, we will just go elsewhere for a Charman or Mumford, leaving Sydney with no bargaining power at all.

I'd expect movement on the Jolly deal Friday morning, and the Ball and Fevola deals will then be discussed and negotiated.

Trade week has turned into a boring week now, nothing happening, that's why it should only be a 2 day trade period.

Funnily enough, the trade week isn't designed to entertain you.

It's not there so that you can flick through websites and constantly be updated with new and exciting trades to contemplate and discuss on internet forums - It's there so that clubs can have a frank and calm discussion about the future of players that are looking to secure their professional and financial future.

To complain that it's boring as though it has some obligation to be more interesting to punters who care too much, of their own volition, about every drop of news.

If you don't like the tension and rumours, then ignore the news until Friday at 2:01, where there's no speculation; only news. Complaining about the lack of "action" is a childish and self-centred belief that the fates of professional football players and the actions of professional football clubs are supposed to be tailored to your personal desire to be entertained.

Mattys I respect your right to an opinion however on this one I seriously think you are wrong.

Trade week needs to be 5 days at least and frankly I am surprised it is not longer. The AFLPA would kick up a shitstorm if it went for only 2 days and for good reason.

Get a grip.

Well I certainly didn't get this memo... so I'm going to need a source.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to make a Fev trade thread that sees us doing an 8 way deal that secures us all of Judd, Fev, Jolly and Ball. I've no doubt the club will read it, recognise my wisdom and set the wheels in motion.

I thought slamming the guy heading to hospital would be enough for one day Vinnie. You're in fine form.
