If fit I reckon the above names are a certainty, where or how the line up is debatable. What it does show is that there are about 5 spots up for grabs and a fair few people fighting it out for those spots.

Of the vacancies 1 will go to the second ruck so who is your preference Wood or Bryan

1 will go to a back flank who gets the nod Toovs, Goldsack or Cox

1 is likely to go to a key foward so who is your preference Ried, Dawes or the Caff

The last 2 are likely to go too midfield rotation / running players. Johnson, Stanley, Beams, Sidebottom,Barham and Cook which 2 get the nod???

Yeah, i would say the same, i would play both Beams and Sidebottom.

I've almost given up on including Stanners in any of my teams. I'd love him to be there but reality says it most likely will not happen.

TBH me too but as this is a preference thing rather then a what do you think will actually happen thing I thought I may aswell.

I'd go for:

Cox, Reid, Stanley, Beams.... and I guess Wood over Bryan, but only cos it makes the team sheet look vaguely more talented.

Wellingham is another that could be in the mix. I guess a Wellingham/Cook/Barham could be selected over one of Stanley/Beams due to being quicker.

Cox Toovey Reid and Beams HAVE to be selected.

Goldsack to miss out. And Benny J should be dropped as well. And Dawes is months away from playing seniors again. Medhurst was clearly rusty last week but did enough to be an automatic seelction as well, albeit he may need a lot of bench time.

I'd like to squeeze Sidebottom in to the 22 as well,but I think he'll be first emergency.

Close call in the ruck, I'd choose Bryan over Wood simply because I believe in selecting sides on form. That said it wouldnt surprise if Fraser was still injured by next Saturday.

I wouldnt lose sleep if Stanley was selected. His half a game of NAB cup this preseason was pretty good!!!!

My thoughts -

Ruck: Wood

HBF: Cox or Toovey depending on match ups but leaning heavily towards Cox.

Forward/Back: Reid

Midfield: Stanley and Beams. These are the only two players outside of our core team that have any hope of influencing the centre clearances. Stanley in particular needs to be picked after the Geelong game - if we can't address the clearance situation I don't really expect too much from this season. I remember games last year that we would have lost had it not been for Burns clearance work so this is an area where we may well go backwards this year. Stanley in particular is the only player that can really be expected to affect the clearances as our younger players are not yet physically developed/experienced enough.

Guys i have some in jury update news.
According to a few sporting articles they have said that Josh Fraser and Heath Shaw have soreness and may miss first round.
Harry Obrien will play.
Rusling will be back at about round 3,but will start through the VFL,same as Rocca.
Also players Corrie,Medhurst and Brad Dick will only see VFL action next friday.

Which means we have to rely on the kids and the crows will make this avery tough encounter.

Finally had a chance to watch our GF debacle today, and Toovey would be incredibly unlucky to miss out in Rd 1. Has played very well for 3 consecutive games now, and in a losing side was clearly in our best 3 along with Lockyer and Clarke.

Ran hard, looked good in patches, but had 4 "unforced errors", to use the tennis parlance, in the first half alone. That alone excludes him from any discussion of being in the "best". Ditto for Cox.

As you would be able to ascertain from my persistent lobbying against Bryan, I place a huge emphasis on players not turning the ball over when not under pressure. It costs games.
