Which players are training with us?

Silvagni is what? 22? The 'lack of opportunities' for other draftees is a silly argument.

It's not like the guy is a 29yo who would be keeping a youngster out of the team for short term gain. If he turns out to be any good we'll get the best part of 10 good years out of him. It's not like the first 3 or so years you get from an 18yo development tall is generally worth much anyway - unless they're Pav II in which case nothing will keep them out of the team.

Attitudes like that are the sort of thing which would keep someone like Broughton from being drafted. IMO there's no downside to using very late draft picks on 21/22 year olds - (as long as they're f**ked off the minute they're proved not up to it - ala Rumble rather than Head)

/This is where we disagree, especially in relation to Shep. I can't see how Shep and Bucoo will ever get chances in the AFL side as anything except backmen, especially given we have Balla, Mayney, MJ, Fyfe, Hutch, Hall, Ruffles, Headland, Pav, Murphy (mo****in dudski ****in extrordinary ordinary) and McFree as forwards. IMHO any decision to draft Silv means the end for Bucoo, Shep, Hall and Pearce.

Speaking of silly... that's pretty silly dude.

Those 4 players are all very different... and yet one draftee would spell the end of them?

If Shep or Buco are good enough they'll get a chance. If they can't prove themselves better than Silvagni... well... I'd rather Silvagni. Seems logical to me.

I haven't seen him train, but his disposal is very ordinary from the games he played for Collingwood that I saw. I think this seems to be the general consensus as well. Be disappointed to pick him up.

Yeah I saw Stanley train on Monday and the few times I saw him get the ball he missed the target. Seems to be a weakness of his and I would seriously doubt that we will pick him up. As I said SIlvagni was clearly the most impressive and I hope he gets rookied as he looked pretty comfortable and fills a need.

Hardingham would not be a bad option but if w take McPhee and Silv, I would hope we look at another KPF in Temel/Panos etc or another tough mid in Hutchings/Ah Chee/Carey etc. This would be best case scenario imo.

On looking at it a bit more, I think that what you're suggesting may well be a good strategy - I'd go for Hutchings as the second pick though, with Ah Chee as the fallback, rather than Temel.

Just read on the D&T board that Ah Chee along with Liam Patrick are training with the Gold Coast so I doubt Ah Chee will be avaiable come our pick. Still would be happy with Hutchings or Carey along with Silvagni or another KPP.

Whether we are able to or not, it doesn't really matter. I would be 99.7% sure that we are not going to delist anybody else.
