i believe there have been threads where people are suggesting which player the richmond football club hould delist.
but i havnt seen a thread specifically on the subject.
i will put down my thoughts for what its worth and hope my fellow tiger supporters will vote for the players they think no longer should be on the list. keep in mind we need to delist atleast 4 player & 5 if we want a selection in the psd just in case there is a player that may suit our needs.
tivendale..........already gone
hyde................already gone
pettifer.............delist
casserly............ delist then rookie list with our 2nd pick in rookie draft
collins................delist then rookie list with our 1st pick in rookie draft
polak................ delist then rookie list if possible ala rama rule

i havnt included tivs & hyde because they are already gone, please select 4 players.

We only have 4 picks in the draft, so I think we only need to delist 2 players if we decide to use all 4 picks. We can't just assume Casserley will be injured alot next year again. Give him another year on the list and make the decision whether to keep him or not in a year. We need to work out Polaks situation over the preaseason. If he can get back to training for the preseason and be able the handle body contact in 6 months then keep him on the list. If he's told by the doctor to take a year off, then rookie him. Delist JON also

not a very good poll.... Jackson I believe has been resigned and so has Polo.

Gourdis is a smokey to be delisted as well I reckon...

It will be interesting to see what happens..

Ideally the club can convince the AFL to allow us to Rookie Polak...

We then delist Casserly and then Hopefully Rookie him.

That would give us 3 picks in the ND.... which is all that we will use anyhow.

If we want another ruckman...ie. Jeff White or promote Cartledge then we have to delist one more.

Like I have said numerous times before Pettifer will cost a packet to delist. We aren't obligated to keep him but financially it would be wise.

Collins has got good raps on him .... he may be in trouble if the club rates Casserly higher an dont want to risk loosing him in the preseason Draft.

I think the club wants to keep everyone we have now... and will delist the player less likely to be snapped up by another club.

delist ---------> the Defendant.

Think Pettifer is gone if we can afford it for the simple fact his position has been covered by a much younger player. Im talking Morton here, and Morton IMO is far, far more dangerous. We also have other options to cover him.

Its an unfortunate way to go out if this eventuates, and a real shame for Kayne as he was often unfairly maligned.

Pettifer is handy for depth. If Morton is injured for 3 or 4 weeks, we know Pettifer can come in and kick a couple of goals and fill the hole

Or even better we get get rid of him so that Connors, Edwards, Collard, Cotchin can play forward if needed.

I'd like to see Connors play alot at half back next year. He is a bit of a cocky player and will learn quicker at half back because the goals are too far away to get hungry :).
Edwards is more suited to wing/forward pocket. Collard is a forward pocket but still has a lot to prove. Cotchin is a midfielder, but I'd have him playing stints at half forward. Pettifer is a half forward mainly who is still capable of filling a hole and we know he'll be trying hard to tackle knowing his spot is in jeopardy

I don't agree with most of the criticism they get on here but the players who should have been retired are Bowden and Johnson. They still add some composure to the side but have slowed down too much for the type of game we are trying to play. King should have also been delisted because he is a good VFL footballer but not an AFL footballer. Keeping those three on the list has hamstrung us a bit meaning we will have to get rid of some younger players who, while still have significant question marks over their heads, still have time on their side. I reckon we'll go for the minimum delistings, so 2 of Casserly, JON and Pettifer will go. If we want to cut harder, Meyer and Cogs (depending on medical opinions) may go as well.

If we go with only 3 picks in the draft, we will really need to load up on young talent in the rookie draft.

Pettifer and Casserley. Casserley has been unlucky with injuries but i think its over for him.I wouldn't mind picking him up in the rookie draft is he's still there. Graham just re-signed so he won't be delisted same with King and Polo

We only need to delist another two. giving us three picks in the ND and one in the PSD.

For me I would like to delist Petts, King - however I think we will delist Casserly (and rookie him) and Petts. I wouldn't think that he is in the clubs futre plans. King will add spirit and dedication to training even if he isn't going to be first choice.

Bowden and Johnson deserve another year. There is no way they should be delisted this year and i would have thought that was quite obvious. Johnson - statistically had a very good season. Especially early in the year before he was in trouble. He has also been a good leader for the club and with such a young list it is good to have someone of his experience and attitude as a leader.

Bowden won 4 games (in a row?) for us.

I agree that these guys haven't got long left but not delisting them this year will mean that we will have a couple of spots open next year. If Richo, Bowden and Johnson retire together next year (which is a good chance) then we wont have to give up any of our young talent. Which could be important considering the compromised draft.

There is no room in defense for Connors with Newman, McMahon, Raines, Meyer, Tambling well ahead of him. Why do we need Pettifer to fill a hole when we have youngsters capable of playing his position? Absolute waste of list resources.

Now if you look at Rucks and Tall Forwards, wow our depth here looks pretty ordinary, but let's keep Pettifer on the list in case we need a flanker:rolleyes:

i wouldn't be surprised if brown, richo, johnson, bowden, simmonds play another 2 years

Delist Pettifer because he is soft, injured, old and is not important to our side and JON because he is shit. Casserly if he can get his body right may have a chance to be an AFL footballer, but JON has no chance. Dead set dud.

Why on earth would we delist a fast, athletic, 19 year old KP prospect in Gourdis?? He's been on the list for a year & hasn't yet played a game because we are still developing him..!
I simply do not understand??

I wouldn't have Raines in the team. I'd have Tambo in the back pocket and Newman at half back. I'd prefer Mcmahon as a depth player and not in our weekly 22. Connors would be good at half back occasionally

BOWDEN - Won a few games for us. We didn't win Doggies game and another when out. May have made the 8 had he played.
JOHNSON - Great experience in a very young side and does his job every week. Hardly missed a game since arriving at Punt Rd (18 in '08).
KING - Great 1st year ('07) where he was Top 10 B&F. Injured in 2nd year ('08) but still showed he can play a key role earlier in the year. Still has time on his side. Tucky was nearly delisted at similar age and then finished 2nd in B&F at 27! Thank God we didn't give him the ass!

Sorry Crumden, I wouldn't delist these three!!!!!!!!!

Madtiger you really are ****ed in the head sometimes. McMahon as a depth player is about as likely as JON becoming a superstar whilst TW is at the helm.

Yeah delist JON. Put either Casserley or Polak on the rookie list. We will have 3 spots free and that's all we really need imo. Pettifer deserves another year

Pettifer doesn't deserve shit. I want him delisted more than anyone else.

Averaged 35 goals per year from 2005-2007. Didn't play much in 2008. He obviously is a pretty handy half forward and was dropped to improve his tackling. That will make him a pretty good player because we know he will be harder at the ball and the man from now on. Good move by Terry :thumbsu:

Why couldn't he be harder at the ball for the past 8 years? He isn't going to suddenly change the way he plays. People on this board love to hold out for miracle improvement. The guy is soft as butter and we have better players now.
