Which draft do u think had a stronger pool of players 2003 or 2004???
i rekon the top 5 of ths year is better than the top 5 of last year.

and who do u rekon will be better Cooney or Deledio???

yup, i reckon last year's draft was stronger overall but this year's top 5 was much better and more obvious then last years.

2004 isnt overly strong but the top 5 or so are as strong as any draft. :)

Cooney is a very good player but id much prefer Deledio at Richmond.

you'd rather the guy who hasn't played a game, over the one who already looks a bloody good player?

Deledio sounds a bit goddard to me. But of course time will tell, which is all my point is really. I find it hard to prefer a complete unknown over a partial unknown who has not undersold his ability.

I am not saying Deledio is unknown as whether he has ability, but how good he will be IS a complete unknown at this stage.

er... yes.

Cooney is a very good player but id rather Deledio at Tigerland.

Yes, but you're only saying that because Richmond had the #1 pick this year and not last year, if it was the other way around I'm sure you would be telling everyone you would prefer Cooney.

Optimistic or not, those of us who followed Cooney all year are pretty excited about his progress. He should mature into a great - not just a good - player. If Deledio is the better of the two, the Tigers have a truly magnificent acquisition.

I dont think any player drafted this year has the raw talent of Cooney. The guy is a one off freak....Bit early to compare them, Deledio hasnt played yet and no doubt with be a very good player.

This post really is a case of comparing apples and oranges.
Deledio hasn't even played a game yet and suddenly he's the better player.
They'll both be as equally as good as each other. No one comparing Roughead and Walker, Silvia and Griffen, Tambling and McLean or who ever were the next picks. For what's it's worth if there was no father-son rule Jesse W.Smith would have gone with the number 1 pick and he's taller at 191 cms while being able to play a similar game as DeLedio. His mark on Channel 10's delayed  draft special was as good as riewoldt's or bartel's in the AFL this year.

In terms of raw talent id say Tambling is the as good as any player ever drafted.

I doubt Jesse W.Smith would have gone no. 1

Top 5 or 6, in the elite group however.

works both ways. u could also say that cooney is a pure midfielder/ onballer. something u couldnt say about deledio who is more of winger/ flanker type.

personally at the eagles i would rather cooney but very very early to tell.

You cannot say Deledio isnt a pure midfeilder.

He is, with the abilty to play full forward, flanks etc.

both will be good for there respective clubs in the future, i would even venture to say a lot of posters on here would'nt have seen the big D play so how can anyone compare them...

lets revisit this in 3-4 years time...
