Just putting it out there.

Should teams with no white as their colours wear white shorts against teams with white, regardless of whose home game, would it make viewing easier or even easier for players who have to make split second decisions.

Should teams like Adelaide, Brisbane, Essendon, Gold Coast, Hawthorn, Melbourne ect. wear white shorts against Collingwood, Geelong, North ect.

Hawthorn in white shorts is on Fox Footy atm against Geelong and it just seem unecessary.

Come to think of it why not allow blue and brown shorts anyway.

Once upon a time we had white shorts for the away team and now it seems we're heading for a white away strip. If the home team has white in their jumper then the addition of white shorts to the away team normal jumper does nothing or could possibly add to the confusion. In this case they usually go for the all white away strip. IMO most of the jumpers are easily discernable from front on and it is usually the rear view with large numbers that causes problems. Some all white uniforms look good like the South Melbourne and the new Fremantle ones but it would be simpler and preferable in some cases just to have a standard light/dark colour for the backs of Jumpers. Hawthorn would simply have a dark brown back for home games. Essendon and Richmond would have a reverse jumper or reverse colour on the back. The only exception is carlton being all blue so they would have a choice of light blue or an all white jumper.

No

There was a season/s where this did apply. Think it may have been in the early 2000s? Thought it was a good decision at the time but was disappointed when the AFL dropped it.

Essendon v Sydney last year the Swans wore red shorts instead of white

That's not so bad as the Swans red and white vs our mostly black doesn't really clash.

The stupid ones are Hawthorn, Essendon, Richmond and co. wearing white against the likes of Geelong, North, Collingwood and co.

The issue of white shorts should be considered holistically with other match-day strip issues in a proper regulated setup. Not the inconsistent and ad hoc manner it appears to be handled at the moment.

is that why the pies wore white shorts even though they were the home side in last years prelim?

I imagine it would be more like our arrangement with geelong

Collingwood in black top and white shorts with hawthorn in yellow and brown is less of a clash than collingwood in black and black and hawthorn in yellow and white

White is a collingwood colour, not a hawthorn one so we wore white

Wearing white shorts won't do anything to avoid a clash because a lot of players prefer to wear their jumpers outside their shorts, obscuring the shorts.

What crap, it isn't a lot of players, and it doesn't cover all their shorts.

All I'm saying is teams with no white shouldn't wear white shorts against teams with white, it takes a little away from the viewing.

It's very logical. The reason the AFL does this in the finals because all games are deemed as "neutral" games as far as the AFL is concerned so they decide who wears what.

This policy should be adopted for the H&A season.

Clancee Pearce with the white shorts!
