LALOR Football Club could be set to broker a peace deal between warring brothers Lance and Shane Whitnall.
Lalor president Paul Honey said this week the club had spoken to Shane about playing for Lalor and intended to do so again.
"Shane's a very good player and we would like to see if we could get something mended," Honey said.
"Shane isn't someone I ring every day, but whenever I bump into him I ask him how his footy is going and if he would be keen to play for us.
"It would be tremendous for everyone involved."
Former Carlton skipper Lance, who turned 29 yesterday, has just completed a successful first season with Lalor in the Northern Football League, kicking 66 goals in 14 games, including recent hauls of eight and 10.
He was forced to watch the Bloods' final game for the year from the sidelines as brother Shane kicked six goals to steer his team, Bundoora, to victory.
But Honey denied Lance missed the game because of the feud.
"The season has taken its toll on his body and, since we could not make the finals, we decided to finish him up," Honey said.
The feud dates to early last year and has involved court action and a public spat that has torn apart the once-close brothers.
Honey said while the club was doing its best, a reunion may be some way off.
"As far as playing together, they're both getting older, which is the main problem," he said.
