Its not very often that failing to invite children to a birthday party ends up in death threats and intervention orders.

Whitnall is one very special unit. Surely you have somebody more stable to lead the club?

Hold on a tic, I didn't say that Collingwood is the greatest club of all time because I am aware that there is not one single stand out club in history. By the way, footy began in 1897, and not 70 years ago, but if you want to be selective, then why didn't you say five premierships in 72 years?

If you research a little Collingwood history i think you'll find the club was bank rolled in the 1920's by a notorious Melbourne criminal Squizzy Taylor.

That is the reason that it is debateable that Carlton is the greatest club of all time. Two of their premierships are at the very least questionable, same with Essendon, while Carlton have also 'won' three wooden spoons in recent times. Of the established clubs, it is Collingwood that has collected the least amount of wooden spoons.

Actually I have a Masters degree, but I simply lost count of Carlton's lean years, and not because I can't count of course. I will admit that I was wrong though to make you feel better, and I hope that you will forgive me for my error. It has been three wooden spoons, and one second-last placing in five years. I came across the thread and I simply shared my opinion regarding Carlton being the greatest club of all time as I simply feel for various reasons that there is not one single stand-out greatest club of all time.

The comment regarding Lance Whitnall and his dysfunctional family appearing as guests on the Jerry Springer show was not to be taken seriously, and that is the reason that I added a *wink* at the end of the comment. I'm sorry that you took it personally enough to patronise me when that was not necessary as I do have a thorough education, so I do get it. Carlton have 'won' three wooden spoons in five years, and not four years, so again I apologise.

You start off by accusing our club of cheating to win premierships. Is that not trolling? It is certainly not a comment based on fact. Our club has won 16 premierships & did not cheat to win any of them. Our club was penalised for breaching the salary cap, no argument there, but the years for which we were found guilty of salary cap breaches did not include the 1995 premiership. Our first 14 premierships were won prior to the introduction of salary cap rules & our 15th premiership was won in 1987, the year that the salary cap first took effect. No breach of salary cap rules occurred then, either. This clearly demonstrates that your comment was intended to inflame posters on this board.

I had the same attitude until I read the article which was front page news on both papers and this story is all over the news. These allegations do nothing but trash our brand in a marketplace which has ten clubs competing for the same revenue.

I don't think this will affect Whitnall's footy but he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.

This is a family feud we are talking about here, not someone jumping all over a taxi, or someone being charged for a brawl outside a nightclub. The only reason this family feud is being publicly aired is because it involves the captain of an AFL club. Pop along to the many suburban Magistrates' Courts & you will find AVOs being dished out as part of family feuds on a daily basis. This doesn't warrant headlines in a newspaper or national media exposure. The fact that Today Tonight were prepared to run this story nationally is an absolute farce. Personally I think Shane Whitnall & his wife have sold their souls by appearing on Today Tonight. I would hate to think they actually got paid for this rubbish.

The problem with what you said is where you said it. This happens to be the Carlton board and as such Carlton supporters tend to have the reins in here. You really had no right to come in to this board and have a go at a Carlton supporter who was simply showing his passion for the club he loves. Is it so hard to understand that the club boards are for the supporters of that club and other supporters are meant to show respect for that?
You can bag Carlton and belittle us as much as you like in the main forums, but to come in here and show such little respect is just pure ignorance.

And before ANYONE starts making judgements about Lance and the other parties involved - we all only know a little bit of what i am sure is a long story. For that many police to get involved and for Shane and Tammy to be picked up at the airport - there has to be some truth to the story.
But in saying that - none of us can or should make any judgements on any of them - as Lance said on the news this is a family matter and it should stay that way.
Lance is a great bloke and i know that he would only go to such lengths as a last resort and if he felt it was neccessary.
what is happening off the field should be left alone. As long as he is doing his dtuies on field and as the captain then that is all we should be worried about.
