I am well aware now that we are going to get to pick from the top end of the draft BUT what type of players do we need and who do we need? This is important because we may only get the top end of this draft and next years before it's too late to get good picks. Keeping that in mind I think we need to focus on KPP in a ruckman, to replace simmonds when he gets on and play along side patto, a kp forward to help fill the hole richo and brown will create when they leave as just hughes and rewolt arn't enough, and finally a kp defender who is tall and is a gun as we lack in that area. I say get the kpp's first as they take longer to develop, and get smaller players later as we have a good supply of them and they can develop quicker....any thoughts???

Kruezer

and then a couple of big bodied KP with picks 17&18. There is plenty of quality onballers you can get with late picks, enoughs, enough, we need to stock up on more KP prospects

If we have pick 1 and don't take Kruezer we should lose all rights to haveing good draft picks ever, it would be an absolute disgrace if we took anybody else

strong bodied skilled player for the draft plus look for a few mature 20+ year old players. no more skinny weak unskilled players.

lol. 20+ matures in the draft?

Do you want a repeat of 2002-2003-era drafting with Billy Nichols, Luke Weller and Ben March etc?

God help us all if thats the case!

You know their is a reason they are 20+ and not in the AFL;)

Is that you spud:rolleyes:
Think people would learn from our mistakes that have gotton us nowhere but mid table

they are just as more likely to get duds int he draft, i rather get someone with a track record playing against adults than go for some kid who cant play.

Check your email when you get to NFI Inc in the morning Krusty.

I've attached a paper on what the drafts are about to help you get up to speed mate.

We got Foley in the rookie draft - because nobody wanted him in the national draft. Foley got to play against adults first simply because he was a rookie and all our players gained from the national draft have that same chance.

Lol Thats A Good Point , But I Think We Should Pick Up Kruezer , We Need A Key Ruckman One That Dominate (EG Cox) , I Think Kruezer Can Do This For Us In The Futuree , Agree ?
You wont get that from Kruezer unless they change the centre circle laws again. He will be a KPP at AFL level, that's it. With the rules as they are Ruckmen need to be pushing or above 200cm. I say Cotchin or Palmer is the way to go and pick up Will Sullivan or someone of his ilk with a second round pick. Anyway as it stands Carlton will have first pick and they will take Kruezer.

Disagree jumpinjimmy as Kruezer is already 199cm at barely 18 years old. By the age of 21 he will probably develop into a 204cm agile matchwinner capable of playing in the Ruck or KP.
My only concern is Carlton's remaining 8 matches against Sydney(A), Brisbane(A), Saints(TD), Pies(MCG), Port (A), Dons(MCG) and Roos(TD). Maybe a surprise result against the Saints or Roos might do it!!!

I was standing next to him and Will Sullivan (202cm) and Will seemed to have a good 5 cm's on him. Could have been an optical illusion. He was also used in a ruck-roving/changing forward role and looked suited to it. But you may be right afterall, only time will tell:)
On the second point see my post re the kidnapping of the Melbourne team in round 22:D

Palmer would be a mistake and a disgrace, he is NOT a #1 pick nearly a full year older and wasn't good enough last year and players like Kruezer Cotchin are much more advanced then he is, and nearly a year younger.

Anyway whats wrong with a KPP, although he will be a ruckmen

Ok...we'll have to wait see as to how Kreuzer evolves. Nothing wrong with a great KPP but its the engine room where a game is generally won or lost. Though the kid does have the ability to play there as a ruck rover as in the u18 championships.

Honestly I don't think that the Blues will take Kreuzer if they get pick 1 purely because they have plenty of players at or above the 190cm mark. I think they will look at bolstering their midfield as they do seem to be lacking in that area and with the likelihood of them having picks 1-3 in the draft they could well take 2 of the best mids in the draft and seriously improve their onball division then look at a developing ruckman later in the second round.

This could well leave us with the chance at taking Kreuzer with our first pick then look at taking a decent inside mid at 17 and a ruckman at 18. Gives us cover in a 3 areas we badly need help in.

At least this is what I hope will happen. The Blues could well go with say Kreuzer and Masten at the top of the draft. The only thing we can do is guess and hiope the cards fall our way for once.

With our first pick we def need to get Kruzer however as each week goes on without a Carlton win this looks less likely. This gives us two scenarios:

1) The first is that we take Kruezer with Pick 1 and then take the best available midfielder (inside or outside) with pick 17. With Pick 18 (providing we don't trade it away which I think we will do with a Schultz, Meyer or Krakouer trade) we should take the best 194cm+ KP foward with the most potential. With our 3rd round pick we should take a Utility, ie Otten. Our 4th round should take Alistair Neville if he is still available. If we take a 5th round pick, which we probably won't do as its a pretty shallow draft, we should take another ruckman.

2) the other scenario would see as take Cotchin at 1, Bellchamber at 17 and Otten at 18.

If we trade to pick up Meeson, Maric, Charman, etc. then we probably won't need to keep Knobel or Hall. As it would leave as Simmonds, Pattison, Meeson/Charman etc, and Kruezer and Graham as a 3rd year rookie. Those 5 players should cover our ruck stocks for a year. I hope RFC don't go nuts and take 2 or 3 ruckman in this draft, because we have been unlucky and been light in that departmant this year.

Providing we have no injuries we shoudl have a good starting 4 in the centre square in Simmonds, Foley, Tuck and Coughlan. If you start Neville on the bench and throw Polo, Deledio, Tmabling, Johnson, Hyde, Jackson, Brown in there for little stints its a pretty good midfield

The best kids available obviously from the draft. But I reckon we could get a couple of cheap players to add strength skill and experience to a young side.
1) a forward eg. matthew robbins
2) a defender eg. josh hunt

HELL NO!

Paul Hudson Mk II

If there is 1 thing we don't need thats speacialty small fowards. We already have Pettifer and Brown, plus you can mould most failed midfielders into that role aswell, think Pat Bowden, Chris Hyde, etc.

We have been topping up our list since 2001 no point rebuilding through older players.

Think Ben Marsh, Ben Graham, Patrick Bowden, Trent Knobel, etc - and they were some of the better ones:o

wow people just dont get it. you cant have a whole team of kids. you need a few players with mongrel in them. wish we did have ben graham!!
