Which players need to 'bulk up' over the off season?

McDougall
Munro
Staker
Hanson (unless he moves to Melb)
Nicoski
Adkins
Sampi
Glass

Any others?

Currently, its probably quicker to ask who *shouldn't* be doing a weights program. In addition to the suspects you mentioned, I'd say the following guys need to go to the gym and not come out for some time-

Hunter- Played some quality ball as a key defender, but simply isn't big enough to dominate opponents.

Selwood- his future is as a good sized tagger a la Josh Carr. He has a bit of the angries about him, but needs some grunt to back it up.

Chambers- Has the skills and pace of a top level midfielder, but gets bustled off the ball in packs.

Gaspar- Not sure here, but there must be some sort of program he can do to increase his leg strength and stop him continually messing up his hamstrings.

Cox- A decent weights program away from being a quality ruckman/forward.

Lynch- (hey, why stop when you're on a good thing? :))

Won't fix shin splints. Pilates is what helps hamstrings.

Most clubs are using it nowdays for that very reason

As for bulking up I think a heavy dose of the juice in the of season wouldnt go astray

hamstrings are often back related. More and more sporting organisations are doing Pilates because it concentrates on developing strength and flexibility, core stability and isolating specific minor muscle groups

I've been doing it for more than a year because of a rooted back and it's far and away the best exercise routine I've ever done

The fact that you know where you can find a pic like that on the net is somewhat disturbing :(

One minute & Google - more disturbing is your train of thought.

How do you actually post a pic?

Either use the button when you type your post, or enter the address of the image into your post between IMG VB codes.

eg. [xxx] Insert image address here [/xxx]

Adkins, Munro and Nicoski should be locked in a weights room with lots of Protein food and not be allowed out until after Christmass.

Won't help them in the skill or talent department though....

Although I can't see 'Mike' Munro being at the club in 2004 and Adkins hasn't impressed me - they would be the players Woosha should lock in the Weights Room with an unlimited supply of Beef-Cake and Musashi Products

Or a Croatian one, allegedly.

Pilates is an exercise method that is all the rage at the moment - I don't know all that much about it (which is a bit embarrassing as my sister-in-law teaches it) but it's something to do with balancing out your stretching rather than just pumping up certain muscles.

Merenda used to swear by it for his back - it got him back onto the park, so he could kick the point to win the Carlton game, so we could get into the 2002 finals. So it's good.

pilates apparently is all the rage in hollywood. Anyway - I think its all about strengthening the bodies "trunk". It focuses on all the hundreds of minor muscles as well as the obvious major ones.
