Who should we take at pick 2? Final say

The more I know about Thorp and Seller the more I think we have 4 or 5 talls to choose from.We can't lose. I'm leaning towards Hanson now.Changed my mind. Gumby will be a great pick too. Wish the club would just come out and say it. Won't happen though.

Patience is the key, only 6 more sleeps ;)

A note on Gumbleton too: the only reason he spent so much time up forward for Peel Thunder this year when he played seniors,is because Peel have no tall forwards who can actually mark under pressure,he was the only option. One other player played at FF,but he played more towards the end of the season. Gumby can play at HB,HF,FF, in the ruck. Much like Hanson I suspect.

But maybe Hanson more only cause of the Victorian link. Local lad, sort of:eek:

i agree with dasawx its so even between these 2 right now. i hope we go for hansen or gumby over luen otherwise picking up paddy was a waste IMO, why draft 2 yound ruckman when you already have laycock and hille (who is not that old) 4 ruckman will not help anyone.

We haven't been shy in drafting Western Aussies, Kepler, Ryder, Johns.

To me, it's looking closer to 50/50 by the day for Hansen/Leuenberger

To me picking up Leuenberger would be a mistake. I think we can't go wrong with either Hanson or Gumby. Our ruck stocks are healthy at the moment so I think it would be in the best interest of the club not to pick Leuy. But stranger things have happened.

But remember, just because Leuenburger played in the ruck for East perth in his few games at senior level doesn't mean he has to play ruck in the AFL.

He could be a 6'7-8' backman for us and hold down a key position that badly needs attention.

Still believe Gumby and Hanson are the front runners for our first pick but Seller and Thorp would still be on the EFC radar. Its gunna be interesting!

I've got a feeling all these top 10 draft picks might not get picked as expected after all the hoopla thats gone on for the last 6 months.

Sure we will most proberly go for Gumbleton or Hanson in our pick, but I think there will be some big surprises from other clubs.

Even us,its not set in stone were going for Gumby or Hanson is it?

We are all gunna look silly if EFC pick someone who hasn't even been thought about before. All this talk and discussion for nothing?:D :(

That's a bit of a myth, it wasn't purely because of his shoulders.

Otherwise Hawthorn never would have drafted a bloke with OP. Hawthorn just picked who they thought was the best player.

Selwood's injury is a bit more serious.

Two shoulder reco before 17 is pretty serious

I hope we don't get a project player again. Ryder is enough of a worry for me let alone another first round draft pick to wait for. Would love the best available midfielder and if Essendon happen to pick some1 different to Selwood or Gibbs is gone get a CHF or CHB not a ruckmen.

Daniel Connors could be this years Dale Thomas.

Interesting article and interview with Gumbleton in the local rag. Gives a bit of insight into his thinking coming up to draft day.

Thats a long post to just say you dont want leuey with our first pick lol

I would hate to have the job of drafting. I mean Gumbles, Leuey and Hansen could all become stars. You gotta figure out which 1 will. Im starting to like Leuey. "Once in a generation" ruckman did it for me. I think we are a chance to pick up Goldstein late however. Is an Essendon supporter and I think we spoken to him. Interesting article in the Jewish News about him today. Oakleigh have asked him back to play next year if he isn't drafted but a few American colleges have offered him a basketball scholarship.

Hansen should be the priority, I'd personally be starting to build a strong backline for the future before Fletcher retires as his absence will leave a gaping whole down there. We currently have no quality chb, so we are in trouble if we are without a FB and CHB with some experience.

Lee is being grommed for CHB IIRC, so that would be covered if he comes along, try and get n or m brown in the draft as a full back, pick up selwood no.2 and have a quite possible star in the future

Does the signing of Michael change anything?

Dont think it changes anything at all, signing Michael simply gives us some space to develop our young talls without having to throw them to the wolves like they did with bradley this year. I still think we will draft two defenders.

we will take Scott Gumbleton.

Sheeds has wanted a CHF with the same presence as J.Brown or Hall for a long time.

Gumbleton.

Priority pick: armitage(if around) or another top mid.
