no, and it might surprise but im happy i wasnt there. it was live on tv around australia but forgot to set the vhs at the mates house.

twas easter 1994 and was in sydney attending the autumn racing carnival at randwick on the saturday & monday.

some of the best punting wins anyone could experience.

a big thanks to chris munce on jetball in the galaxy, and also thanks to some unknown maiden winner at kembla, amongst others. and only if that 150/1 pop in the last at moonee valley had got up  - beaten a long neck.

Yep, I was sitting in the AFL members are about half way towards the back on the bottom deck, centre wing.

When he burst out of the centre at first it was just another McGuane run, but when he approached 50 the Pies crowd started to egg him on to go for him, and the last handball fake before the kick was one of the best ones I've ever seen.

Best "in the moment" goal I've seen a Pies player kick with only the first goal in the 1990 Grand Final coming close.

Yeah was in the 2nd tier of southern stand in the old social club , kicked the goal right near us , at first everyone thought where's he going ? Then he turned and came straight for us , Buckley kicked a monster goal either before or straight after that , if anyone has that vision it's pretty special.

The 07 final against the Eagles at Subiaco Oval is my favourite game Ive seen live.
The effort the boys put in during the overtime period was amazing.
To make it even better, I was surrounded by Eagles supporters.

Was anyone at Vic Park when Lou Richards was surprised by This Is Your Life. I remember sitting there thinking why on earth are they presenting awards pre match. It was very fitting that he was cheered off in that manner, did they at least let him watch the match before hijacking him from the ground

I haven't been to a real tight Collingwood game, but everytime we knock off the Crows down here I gladly tell everyone I was there to watch it. I was however at the Round 19 Hawks/Cats game where Hawkins got that goal after the siren. Amazing stuff.
Also the Hawks fan's tears were delicious.

Yes was a big moment for certain. As VJ mentioned it was Easter, i recall i was away for Easter for this game. and drove hours back to go the game. Also, a good mate was in the final of that years Stawell Gift so it was a big day.

The bigger roar did come with the next goal ( as SnakeP mentioned ) when the boom recruit Buckley kicked a pretty long goal from the opposite flank to where Mick eventually goaled from, both to the Punt Road end.
All in all, a very big day!!

MIck McGuane ran towards where I was sitting, then away towards the goal. If the MCG had a roof, it would have been lifted!
Re the Daicos goal against Richmond: I was also there for that one. What the video does not show is that his opponent (Laurie Fowler?) did every thing possible to prevent the kick, and that both players ended up in the Visitors race!

Please can all Daicos videos be tagged with a warning...

Otherwise....

loverly!!!

pies vs lions juncition oval (i think) 1977. 75m torp from carman split the sticks. kicked 7. demoralised the lions on his own. 1st rd i think
Was there for the Carman goal, he was such a talent. Was also at the Junction oval for 2 other interesting games. Anyone remember Ian Mc Orist? Six goals from a Half forward flanker ( at least 2 from drop kicks ) on debut wasn't a bad start. But my personal favourite was the famous Preston/Dandenong GF when "Frosty" Millar got a goal from a free kick BEFORE the game had even started.
Was at Johnny Greening's comeback game against Richmond at the G ( was also at Moorabbin the day Jimmy O'Dea clocked poor Johnny) At the comeback match even the Tiger supporters were crying at the courage Greening displayed. He was serviceable that day but he was never the same JG again.

This is a great thread for those nostalgics amongst us!
May I propose another couple of topics? Best debut game by a Collingwood player & best individual game.

The MM run was a highlight for me.

Does anyone remember Gary Pert's first game for the Pies against the Lions at Vic Park?

Craig Kelly blasted him in the first quarter for not doing the disciplined thing in defence... (he tried to mark rather than spoil).

We were such a big intimidating side back then...

-was there at Junction Oval when McOrist kicked the 6 goals (it obviously made a lasting impression!!). Shaggy, blonde-headed guy -looked a lot like the infamous Ted Hopkins! It technically wasn't his debut, as he was 19/20th man the previous week.

Another great game in 1972 was Tuddy's return to Vic Park for the first time as Capt/Coach of Essendon. The crowd was huge -people sitting on the roof of the Rush Stand. We won the match, but the most memorable event was some nuff-nuff from the 'Bombers Cheer Squad running through the Collingwood banner before the game. In obvious retaliation during the 1st quarter , someone then set fire to the Essendon Cheer Squad's floggers down at the Yarra Falls end. The game was interrupted until they put out the fires. This lead to the banning of large floggers and the tonnes of cut-up newspaper/phone books that cheer squads used to carpet the goal-squares at either ends of the ground
