Do we want to Jack Grimes him?
it was just a throw away line....
On the subject of grimes.. I reckon we get him in as cover on the minimum.

He's much better than he used to be. He doesn't cope very well with satellite linkups, but in his defence they are incredibly awkward and unintuitive.

I think Monty still takes the cake as our worst media performer. :D

Probably fair comment there.

Like Grundy is getting on a bit and his spot in the 22 is a chance to possibly come into question in the next couple of years so I thought it may be too big a risk to consider.

Wonderful clubman, player and leader though, he has all of the great personal qualities and leadership characteristics that I spoke of about Rampe and would be an equally committed and diligent candidate to fulfil the obligations and expectations of the role.

I just feel like it won't be him, probably because if it came down to a coin flip, as I said before Rampe has all of the same attributes and would get the tick for being a bit younger.

I can edit the poll though, so I'll add him in.
No Fyfe option??

Give it to Hanners, see if he can get the rest of the midfield to give him a bit more protection from getting smashed

I think Jack should be sole captain, seemed to relish it when McVeigh was out earlier in the year.

Speaks well too which unfortunately for JPK is one of the required attributes.

Someone new to be Vice. I'm over having co captains, just feels like a way for them to avoid taking full responsibility.

This is so overrated. Paul Kelly was like Mumbles from the Dick Tracy Cartoon & Maxfield was as shy as a 5 year old on his first day at school and both were 2 of the best in the Clubs history. Media rubbish and the like is not the be all and end all and the more its done the more competent they become.

I agree with you, I think it's unfortunate that it is a factor.

I think that with a full pre-season McVeigh might surprise a few of you, but as for captain, if he is seriously thinking that next year will be his last (and Horse is thinking the same way), then I imagine that he will step down like Goodes did and mentor whoever comes in to replace him.

At 28, I think JPK probably won't be captain so whether or not he'd do a good job is not really relevant to me. I think we are probably going to get someone who is around the 25-26 yro mark and I like Hanners, Parker or Rampe.

However, I don't really know much about their leadership qualities, so I'll leave that up to the club and gladly accept whatever they do.

Reckon that's probable. JPK has the on field cred but not off field. Need someone to carry that load and provide that bit of continuity. When Kizza goes in a couple of years Mills might be ready or Rampe.

Easy fix.
JPK can be match day captain.
Someone else can do the fancy schmancy stuff with the media.

He's a gun when it comes to leading by example but I don't think that Junior's much of a talker (compared to some others) on and off the field. I believe that Parker and Hanners are.
I like the no talkers to be honest. Talkers talk to much.
