I'd spew if we blow the chance of getting Ottens, by refusing to split up the playing group because they are so close etc.

Yes, it is great to have a close-knit group, but our 'window of opportunity' is now (I hate the term, but it is an accurate description) and we need that final piece to be a real contender. The club need to make some hard decisions because I don't want to look back and see a chance wasted becaue of sentiment and I certainly don't want to say "Well we could have won the flag, but I don't care because the players are so close to each other, and that's all that matters..."

It's not as if we are going to break up half the list and you can't tell me that one or two departures will ruin the entire bond they've developed.

I hate trade week because it's the only time in footy where I feel I have absolutely no control on the outcome.

Out of the four you mention, Ottens is the only one I would like, however, not at the expense of some great current GFC players.

Absolutely 100% spot on. You dont get to a Prelim without doing something right. Perhaps an expensive goal kicking coach would be a better investment as IMO that is why we didnt play in the GF.

geelong do need a quality key forward, the thing about ottens is he is 24 and therefore has at least 6 good years left. we would have a better chance of a premiership with him than without. imagine a defence having to match up ottens, graham, kingsley, s johnson. king can rest down there as well, if it doesnt happen i will be disappointed.

....plus there are guys in the VFL that, if we are lucky, can step up to be regular senior players and kick goals. So all is not lost if we don't get a forward via the draft.

I'd love to see Whitnall play for you guys! i reckon Geelong is best suited for him to stick it up all those who have given him ******** the past few weeks.

No doubt in my mind that he'd kick 60+ goals with the likes of Abblet and Ling hitting him on the chest! If i see him go to StKilda, i'll spew. Of course you'd take Ottens over Whitnall, but if Ottens goes elsewhere (Collingwood in PSD) whitnall would kill it with you guys. And i'd be happy that he'd get a shot at finals next year (and possibly a GF??????)

Listen, i'm not saying Whitnall is worth two first round picks (unlike richmond who are completly stupid and greedy when it comes to trade time!) but Spriggs? Give me a break man!
