I thought it would be interesting to compare the team that played against Carlton to th possible team of players who didn't play on the weekend due to injury or form.

If all players were uninjured, which team do you think would prevail?

Team that played AFL
B: Ward, Carroll, Wheatley
HB: Johnson, Bizzell, Brown
C: Dunn, McDonald, Petterd
HF: Godfrey, Robertson, Davey
F: Sylvia, Miller, Bate
R: White, McLean, Jones
I: Johnson, Frawley, Newton, Buckley

Team that didn't play AFL

B: Bell, Holland, Warnock
HB: Whelan, Rivers, Neville
C: Moloney, Johnstone, Green
HF: Pickett, Ferguson, Garland
F: Yze, Neitz, Hughes
R: Jamar, Bruce, Bartram
INT: Neaves, Weetra, Bode, Hayes

I think aside from the lack of depth in the team that didn't play, it would be a fairly even contest.

I reckon the team that played would easily account for the team that didn't.

We would smash them in the middle, who of Johnstone, Green, Bruce and Moloney (big bodied receiver) would be in there getting the ball ahead of Jones, McLean, McDonald and Godders?

And White & PJ v. Jamar?

Haha.

Silly post Deestroy.

The team that played on the weekend easily.

Hardly a silly question. That second team has some great names in it. Neitz, Bruce, Bartram, Green, Johnstone, Beamer, Rivers, Whelan. It'd be competitive - I'd go with team A simply because they won.

Thanks for stealing my post. ;)

If the midfield in Team A is so good, then how the hell did we end up winning about 20 LESS clearances to Carlton, despite the fact that we won about 40 MORE hitouts?

the question is more of a rhetorical nature i would think... but the fact that you even consider that the 22 players we didn't have playing could beat the 22 players we did have playing shows what sort of shape we've been in of recent times...

this week the B team gets strengthened with Petterd replacing Garland on the Half Forward Flank...
