wow!
we are thinking ahead here..
well after ponting brings home the 2011 wc he will be 36 and will prob retire...so id say some 16 yr old boywonder we havnt heard of yet will be the next aussie capt.

Simon Katich has been touted a future Test captain in the past. But he's only younger than Ponting by a matter of months.

My money would be on Michael Clarke.

Michael Johnston

none of u no him yet because he is the boy wonder you speak of.
however, going by this theory of giving the captancy to a 16 year old the next captain will be 23 when he takes on the role. too young in my opinion. and thats if ponting lasts until 2011 which is not very likely!!!

The logical choice would be Micheal Clarke but I agree with Jars mark Cosgrove is a chance, seems to have a good head on his shoulders and Im sure will be playing for Australia soon enough.

Clarke and thats pretty obvious I would think. Captained AUS A, basically the 2nd or 3rs best side in the world....with his attitude and all round character, he will get the nod after Ponting.

Cosgrove will be in the side tho, but just as a special #3 or #4

Cosgrove is a gun.

How old is he?

I don't think that Katich will be the next skipper. I think it will be Cameron White

LOL

There is a good chance this guy might not even play a test match in his career.

Obviously you can't comment on a player that hasn't played test cricket and how they will react at the top level but I wouldn't be suprised to see someone like Rogers up there. Clarke is the obvious front runner though.

This is an interesting one, in hindsight - considering we're now coming to what must surely be the end , certainly the twilight, of the Punter era.

"Clarke he will be an absoulote star". Hmm yeah, good call Johnson#26. Dunno if I'm absolutely sure about "absolute star".
