Anyone want to have a stab at naming this Carlton player contesting with Schimma from a game v North in 1979?

Is it Peter Francis?

That's what I'm thinking, however, there was a very similar looking player named Michael Young playing for the blues at that time.

Could very well be Peter Francis. Reckon Mediumsizered would be able to answer this one straight away.
it shaw is peter francis an old white hills tech boy(bendigo) should have one the 1979 norm smith medal even though harmsey was my favorite player of the time.

Check The Dominator's stats and watch the game - def should have won Normie!!

Francis was quite good in the '79 GF, but the Dominator would have been my pick for the Norm Smith Medal. I liked the way he slipped back into defence in the last quarter to take a couple of telling marks.

Must say I haven't watched the '79 GF for a little while, but IIRC, Francis was quite prominent early, and kicked a good running goal going towards the Punt Road end. Were you there that great day MS?

First GF I went to. Stood behind the goals, undercover, at the Ponsford Stand end of the ground. It was a good day as our Under 19s also won the premiership, in a match that contained one of the best all-in-brawls you will ever see.

Things didn't look good in the first half of the GF, but to go in at half time in front was a great effort. The last quarter was quite an ugly affair as the conditions had really taken their toll on the players. Harmes' little piece of magic fixed that though. It was just amazing to watch him chase the ball & then when he belted it back towards the goal square, there was Ken Sheldon to kick the goal. I knew we were home then.

An excellent day for one's first GF.

Geez I didn't, the pies came at us in waves in that last quarter, couple of minutes later Johnston should have sealed it, and spent the next 15 minutes crapping myself anyway.

25 minutes into the second we hadn't goaled, but just before then, Trevor Keogh decided to take retribution against the universe and knocked Russell Ohlsen (who was killing us) cold, and we then kicked 10 goals over the next 30 minutes.

Loudest game of footy i have ever been too. Couldn't hear the siren to start or finish any quarter.
