i cant believe the media hype surrounding Anthony Rocca being available for round 1. Or in this instance not being available.
yes all pie fans (me included) should love the possibility of seeing big anth lead, mark, turn and roost from outside 50. but in all seriousness it's been a while since we've seen it consistantly now. hasnt it??
i for one am a massive Rocca fan, always have been, always will be. We all think the same "when he's up and firing the whole team lifts" or "those 50+ goals makes all players rise" yes these statements are true. but im fearing the worst for the big fella just quietly. (hope to god im wrong!)
i just feel that this weeks buildup for round 1 has been overshadowed by will/wont he play?
his last game was in mid 2008. since then we have seen a number of young players prove that they are capable of filling the breach (if not long term) and we've made it to the 2nd week of a finals series without him.
There's been little coverage of other selection dilemm
with every article i read i feel myself saying "who cares?" or "what's new?"
now i honestly do care about his wellbeing and for his and the teams success this year, but i hope you all understand my point.
I, myself am more surprised when Rocca does play rather than him not being available. and i think the media should play this way too. Maybe i/we should just take it as a compliment that the media consider the big man as such a bonus for our side that they've mentioned his every movement this week.

so having said all this i probably should just get used to it. he's always been a major focus in the media. im just sick of hearing the "will he? wont he?" and i hope it doesnt continue much longer.
id much rather see the headline "rocca bags 6 - wins it for pies"
so who's with me?
